Artist Comment

Hmm... another wallpaper that I made of a piece of art by Yoshitaka Amano. I chose one of the scans that I found on a website and actually I started with something completely different. But then the whole idea changed into something new.
I'd be happy to get some feedback of you... it helps me to improve my walling skills... :)
Why did I choose this title? Well green and red are complementary colors... and very often we feel attracted to the opposite of our own... at least I think so...

Edit:
I made some changes to the original wallpaper. The background looks grainier now... I think now it fits better to Amanos drawing... And I didn't like the olive color that much that I got when red and green mixed. I tried to reduce this effect a little bit.
I also changed the font...
I'm curious about ur opinion about the changes that I made.
Thanks a lot for your comments!!!

i really like the colors. a nice contrast between them is present. however the background looks a little odd. as a whole it doesn't work with the composition. it seems a little rough. as is the front image of the two seems to have just been placed on top of it. they need to come together better. but other than that, i really like it. a fav.

i love the idea and it looks to convey it pretty good...
the only that bothers me is the boldness of the text, maybe a slimmer font will fit the original art better. as smilebit mentioned the two are a bit disconected fron the background.. if you use a very subtle filter over the final image this will help the scan to blend with the background. usually a texture layer does the job. awesome job girl... don't mind us the picky old men..
keep them coming I totally enjoy your works... my Amano friend.

Thanks for your comments... I'll keep working on the wallpaper... maybe I can manage to improve it! I really appreciate your comments since they are a precious help for me!

an Amano wall 2 days in a row? have i died and gone to a better place?

okay; i love the concept and what you have for the most part imo have brought to fruition.

first off the characters are visually arresting. excellent setup.. im impressed i would have been inclined to have them facing each other perhaps.. hmm

okay, my own little crit: if im not mistaken the shade of green has been changed and the red as well. i am at work so i can't pull out my artbooks.. anyhow for the green and red i would have used the colors Amano-san used in this painting: Kiss and an Olive . do you see how the shade of green is understated? i think this would have made it look "classier" and refined. im sorry does that make sense?

for the text: ideally i would have removed it totally [i don't care much for text since it detracts form the wall] but you could put it up top [left] from left to right.
remember the text is ancilliary to your bg and character[s].

please don't be offended you are doing great work. :)

note: you need to get yourself an avatar/sig. let me know if you want me to cut you one or help you set it up. ^^

im really excited about your work..

I made a new version now... and changed the color... thanks to DREAM's advice. I also removed the text... but now I feel as if something would be missing in the middle of the hair! So I will upload another version of this wallpaper... with the two facing each other! I am curious what you like more! I somehow loved the idea with their hair appearing to connect the couple. What do you think?

The two people here, mirrored in different colours are pretty interesting, but then the background is too heavy on the eye. I am not much of a wallpaper-maker, but I think that using a texture would help to blend in the characters and the background.

cool and somewhat gothic..maybe becasue their faces scare me a bit..but still it is a good piece of art!
