This theme: Is QUOTATION. Making a wall with a scan with very few favourites and incorporating the lyrics "life is not lived it is merely survived outside the fire"
Current mood: Disappointed. I saw the top submissions and there's a wall
that used the scan my top wallie used... only my wall didn't get anywhere. Well, it did. But not far. There are so
many good wallpapers out there that get neglected. It's not like I can do anything about it being just the one
person... but even no matter how you try.. it doesn't seem to work. Even if you succeed the whole process begins
again. Once you're on top, there's only one place to go: down.
Let's just say then I'm happy to not have gotten up there yet XD
I've never actually been discouraged from walling. Even if I don't get the recognition or even if I get nasty
comments (luckily, few)... but it comes to this when you're all so tired and weary and it's like... *sigh*
Life is such junk. But I don't regret starting to make these walls... which is why I named this No regrets. Which is ironic, though. The thing I really regret was not selecting art as
a subject at school. I love art... but oh well. This is as artsy as I get when it comes to walling.
((Background)) This is a scan done by Yoshitaka Amano. I fell in love with the art when I was browsing DREAM's
gallery.
((Inspiration)) To tell the truth I just really loved the scan. There's this beauty to it... the style of drawing
really captivated me and I really didn't want to lose that kind of painting and colouring... so when I did the
background I tried to keep it similar. When I read the quote, really, I had no freaking idea what to do.. and then I
thought about the inner fire... which resides in all of us... the devil inside.
((What I did)) Basically I wanted to make a silk screen behind it. No real reason... I've had a few wallpapers
trying to do a silk screen sort of background but never did any real justice to it. This time I got a stock image,
vectored it-- it took me a long time to get the wishy washness it has now... but well worth it... on my desktop
it's just... lol... what I aimed for... art... but this is not art... the standard is not there yet.
Oh, and there is fire in this wallpaper. It's not just the inner fire, but on the screen... a very faint blaze
going on there. ^-^
((Sources)) The scan was from DREAM... I really love the gallery there...
there's a mystique to it that draws me there... lol... I'm crazy >.<
((Comments)) Of course, it ain't the best I've done... but for this type it is the best I've done... if
that makes any sense. No actually, it doesn't >.<
Comments appreciated... but this time I'll write it here straight... when you tell me something like I've got
an extraction problem or if my lines are funny or whatever, tell me for Christ's sake *where* even if it's
"next to his hand on the left" or "top of his head" just give me a location because I do check over
my wallpapers before I submit them. Do me a favour and give me a sign!
*holy light shines in*
Also don't bother telling me my colouring has gaps because I wanted it that way.
So we're all kicking against LQ walls: click here
Righto folks that's all from me!
EDIT A bit of the text changed- realised I typed the lyrics wrong... and I lowered the opacity

oo, quite nice, it looks like water paint to me. i dont really have anything bad to say about the wall but i do notice that there are a few globs on the sheath pointing downward. i dont know if you made it that way or not but thats the only "bad" thing i see in this wall. you did a nice job on the vectoring and the scan looks great. everything flows smoothly. good job. ^^ +fav

Wow kuro! (To think of it, kuro doesn't really seems so nice to call, I'll call you Misa then. ^^) Okay... Wow Misa! That's a very.... well.. I dunno how to describe it, but I got me.... dumbfounded. I didn't know the underappreciated group would make a very-very hard requirements for posting the wallie for the contest. You too Yoshitaka Amano-sama's scan, no wonder I felt that it was so familiar at first glance. The scan is here... really suited for the theme, especially that blood spraying all over the... background. I don't relaly get what the quotation means... but I think it is somehow kinda dark and evil.
Overall, great work!! It's really wonderful, I really love evil wallies too. (Although I can't make one)

i really like what you did with the scan, kuroimisa. after my initial view i wasn't sure about the piece's composition but after a short period of reflecting; i admit that i love how you evoke a sense of dare i say tranquility amongst such chaos. the layout is very reminescient of those ancient Japanese watercolor paintings that i love.
my only complaint is the writing -personally i would have left it out. ^^
this is now my current wallpaper. ^^absolute definitive favourite. very original..

in essence: don't get discouraged and keep walling- you are very talented. ^^ and first and foremost you make art for YOU.
currently i am involved in the NewWavePosterGroupProject but would more than willing to act in some capacity: perhaps as a judge or something in your group.
au revoir

the wally is simple when u look at it
but i find the img too be a bit too blurry
i find it to be hard to look at especially the face
but the bg flowers are nice the way they are
by sharpening the img it makes the focus the img and text instead if just text
which is what i'm seeing right now
well i hope that hepled u out a bit, good work ^-^ -

the composition and concept of your wall is exquisite! the subtleness of the fire on the bottom of your wall is a nice touch! and your wall does look like a painting... :D

Looks creepy, but I think there is some element missing from this wall (which I cannot point out, gomen ne~) I just feel so.. sigh, sorry cant help you.. I think the concept is nice, but maybe it is a bit too.. empty ? Especially on the left side ^^ (hey, btw, love your barcode signature :D) and maybe you should nt make the bg so blurry ? Uh, I dunno, this is all just personal opinion ...
Anyway, you deserved 8.0/10 for this one :D good job !! -

The wall seems... "evil". If walls can be described as evil. The person from the scan shows a certain non-chalance... or even pleasure to the death he just dealt. The splattered blood all over the screen seems but a trifle to the red of his clothes. Does this taint serve as a reminder to all of the countless deaths he has dealt? The fire will soon consume the screen and bury in ashes its beauty, elegance and the crimson smear of death that is on it.
In short, I think the background and the idea of the wall fits the scan really well. It gives off a creepy feel actually. I'm in a weird mood and writing long stories for all the comments I'm posting today so I'll stop now.

As a hard-boiled Yoshitaka Amano fan I love every detail of this newspaper, especially the watercolour effect.

[h]Ello,
I added this wallie a lot of time ago... and now I wanna see your gallery again, saw this wallpaper and what? I wanna add it to my fav ^-^ on more time, so I want to say you even when you write that you don't like and have time to answer: This work is amazing, I love that what you have made with the orginal scan, the blood-effect impressed me, The stile in this wallie, this painting.. is awesome and brilliant, for me is this work the masterpiece! -

This wallie honestly has the spirit of the Samarai Warrior ! just looking at in small "pix" just gets my blood stirring ! It's almost like this person just got alot stronger after killing some hapless soul. Not just taking that hapless person's life, but exacted their soul as well.
The blood splattered on the wall, too realistic and on the person, just too raw. It's almost sinfully delicious to sit here at the computer and enjoy myself. Thank U for allowing myself to daydream, to be able to go to feudal Japan, visualise myself being a samarai warrior and I am going to fight this "Bloody Samarai" and saying to myself "This is a good day to DIE !"
Kanpai ! Thanxs for the share.
