First off, let us all pause and shout out a big ol' loud "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KITTEN!"
Happy Birthday, indeed. This is for you, Kitten! :D
This wallpaper is a little different than my usual stuff. It's a lot more straightfoward, and less abstract. I
usually develope a hidden meaning while I work on the project - something important to me that I want to be included.
However, with this project, I simply vectored several scans that I felt would look good together.
So, i was rumaging through the Okami gallery because as we all know, the game is not only beautiful, but an awesome
game. I came across this scan of our studly
beast, and thought it'd be a cool scan to wall. Especially if I tried to make the lineart as authentic as possible
(similar to my Metal Gear Solid wallpaper).
I wanted to use an Okami background, so I stuck around in the gallery. I though this image had an awesome picture of a moon (which I turned into a
sun, cuz I'm a rebel like that).
And so I had something to work with. Started lining Susanoo (which was a pain). When i finished with him, I had a
feeling that the wall would look mighty empty. I was thinking "I want some leaves floating around", so a
vectored the leaves from this scan. But I was
still not satisfied. I wanted something else - something that would increase the humor. What I needed was one of the
characters to be laughing at the poor samurai! Having looked through the whole gallery at MT, I shifted my search to
Animepaper. Boy, there are a lot of scans over there. Found this scan of the Big Boob Lady who looks amused (possibly laughing). Bam! Everything was excellent!
After vectoring it, I tried to make the colors look as watercolor-ish as possible. Looks pretty good to me. Then again,
I'm no watercolor expert. XD
And, as you can see, I walled it. What surprises me, is that it actually looks exactly how I planned it in my head.
Usually I have to change things, or the wallpaper takes a whole new direction when I'm working on it. The only
thing that really changed was the color scheme (I was originally gonna have all fall colors - reds, oranges, yellows and
browns). Overall, I'm quite pleased with the resulting wallpaper. Oh yeah, I used an old paper texture I had to
make it look like it was actually painted onto something.
I hope you like it Kitten! :)
You too, Minna. ;)
