Just a simple Kino wallpaper. When I was flipping through the second visual book again and saw this picture, I decided to wall it. In keeping with the chess theme I drew up a chessboard, which took 3 tries to get at a decent perspective. Some color gradients, some texture, and some pencil-like outlining to keep with the sketchy nature of the original artwork... and that's about all there is to this wallpaper. It's calm, and unbelievably bright.

Who: crapmonster
What: Go to 'Rakuen'
Why: This was the first thing I ever fav'ed on Minitokyo, and it's still a favorite of mine. Crapmonster's earliest vector work still intrigues me with its blending of tech lines and character artwork, wolf silhouettes and lunar flowers. Awesome.

i love the coloring of the wall -- it makes it look .. like it's going to disappear any second ...

it looks old and broken, especially around his legs .. *-* that's so coool .. ><

it looks too faded out for me, that is...

    anyways, great job~

That looks nice Tama-san. Kino really blends in the background. I like the big chess board idea too. :)

  3. meteorcloud Jul 12, 2005

it's simple but looks good, I really like the idea, hmz...colouring and textures looks good and matches well, the perspective isn't bad too. hmz...well...still looks kinda plain ......mayB you could add one or two chess pieces into it =o.....

oo i didn't know you could 'checkmate' by knocking down the knight!? XD jk. great job on the wall tama-san. perspective looks great and the image of kino was blended really well with the bg.

  5. rocknroll-isgo Jul 13, 2005

Lovin' the sharp movement of the tiled floor... looks great against Kino's angle. Maybe just a bit too much texture over the scan though; hard to see Kino.

Nice plug, too. Thanks for pointing that one out, Tama-neko. ^^

i love the color in this wall
    pale pinkish color...
it's really cool to pick a checkboard background @_@
seems like texturing is popular ^^,
it adds a bit of a old/past memory feel....

another beautiful wall Tama, I like the solid color and texture you chose. And I agree, Crapmonster's Wolf's Rain vector is one of his best works.

Lovely wall as usual Tama! the simplicity added with the finest touch of elegance never seems to amaze me so much...Love how everything goes together in all of this. Great job as always! :)

A very cool way of walling. Very unique. I like it. Well done. Just one tiny problem, the colors too diluted. Plz note that I am not doubting your skill. Cuz some people tend to have mistaken my opinion as that. >_<

luv the concept of a chess board and the texturing is very nice as it fits in well with your theme. but the background looks a bit empty and the scan doesn't seem to contrast enough with the chess board background, but perhaps that's the look you were aiming for. overall, i really like the concept of your wall and the perspective or angle is very good. :D

    omg.. i luv the gradient colours~~~ <3 <3 <3
and it's another kino wall... *sighs* <--- tama's obsession influenced euna to download kino xD
anywayz, simple, but the texture's great as usual and the perspective is awesome!
    a beautiful wallie *fav*

  12. shinorei Jul 14, 2005

it's not exceptionally bright. just normal bright. like my monitor. :)
the chessboard is really cute and it blends nicely with the scan. is it because of the texture?
looks simple and nice. great job! +fav

*slaps forehead* I didn't even realize that Kino was sitting on a knight until after I had viewed the fullsize image. Nice job, as always!
