Actually, there's another thing you could do than change your drawing style. Most scanners allow you to adjust the range of Shadows, highlights and mid tones. You can usually play around with that before making a the final scan to make the contrast easier. I did that on several of my scans, like of Hiroko and Takako of Speed (as teens). It may even have an Auto button to press. -
