Song: "Tangerine Dream" by Do As Infinity
Drink: Citrus Squeeze from Jamba Juice
Okay, so I don't think there's any tangerine in the Citrus Squeeze. Who cares!? Not me! Citrus Squeeze with an engergy boost was breakfast for me for like a year. And actually, I don't like tangerines. Or rather, tangerine flavored things. I've never eaten an actual tangerine.
I used a scan of Lulu and Suzu that I fell in love with when I saw it. I didn't want to cut any part of the boys off, and didn't want to vector a crapload of extra boys to make it work on my screen, so I did it at the resolution of my sister's monitor since the scan was widescreen. Cell shaded with the simplified tangerine palette, then I used a flower painty scatter brush for the shadowed areas on their skin, then the narrow lines for deep shadow and the shading on their clothes. I used a little dodge/burn to make it more interesting. The bg featured a fruit brush that I stamped then dodge/burned and a very faint pattern so that it's not flat. Brushes and patterns are from Deviant Art.
One a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the hardest, this vector was a 1.2. I mean, cell shading almost felt like cheating after doing the outlining and vector-mask painting I did on the last one.
There's a secret yaoi shout out in the wall (other than the boys sleeping together).
Enjoy!

those boys are so... tasty... lol. actually the cell shading vector style mixed with funky textures for shading makes the peice visually stimulating. the color is defintely tangerine-rific. the burn shading is awesome too.
