Another Sister Princess wallpaper from me; this time featuring Haruka. The idea of this wall can be traced back years ago, when I read an article in a magazine. The story told about a man in my country, who (if I don't mistake it) created paintings using embossed metal-plates. The metal plate is embossed following the sketch he created, and then the painting be done using airbrushes...
...I think that it's an interesting technique :D. Actually, years later I remembered about that article, and then the idea of it popped into my mind: "hey, let's try to 'translate' that method into Photoshop, something may (or may not) work out..."
So here this pic goes. At first I planned to place Suzuka Asahina (from anime 'Suzuka') in this pic. However, along the way I found out that it might be better to place Haruka instead, so... there she goes in this pic. @_@
First, I composed the layout and the pic's color comps. This takes around few minutes -- though, on the road, those two got changes and improvements.
Now the matter is to create the 'embossing canvas' aforementioned. All the images (Haruka's scan and the nature-photographs) looks flat and won't do well as-is. I tried to overcome this by combining usage of filter > stylize > emboss, stylize > find edges, and (of course) the 'blending options' > 'bevel and emboss' on the images. At least, the canvas then seem to have more 'depth'.
After that... there came other problem. The stock images are photographs; they wouldn't blend well with the anime-like Haruka-scan! o_0 So I had to retouch them all to minimize the photograph-like details. It also took time, though at last I feel that I've made them blending well on the pic.
Note: that was also subjective :).
OK then. After that the pic is about to be completed; did some minor adjustments, and voila -- this picture popped out safely. :D
Well, that's it. Comments and inputs are welcome. ;)

Ps:
Sorry for the small size; I actually planned to work on at least 1280x960 -- but the materials are too small -_-. Can't really help it, either...

Lol took me a long time to recognise Haruka XD.. geez it has been a long time since i saw sisters princess XD
Well i agree with eternallegend to some point... the backgroud need some major fixing.. it looks a tad bit too real but then on an offset... it looks ugly and eyesore to the eyes... well and i think maybe lightening the wall a little more would make the wallpaper look better :)

Um...i find the scan a lil blurry. But hey that's a very creative idea for your bg. It might be a lil bit real but i find it ok. Your bg reminds me of chinese paintings.
Great job in the flowers, maybe you can vector them but it'll take forever. ><
Overall, great job! The bevelle is an interesting effect, i reckon that you add in more depths. ^^ Pls dun mind my critiques ya! I'll be glad to help if i can, but i'm not a good waller myself. XD -
