EDIT: This isn't supposed to be strictly realistic, so just pretend the clouds are radioactive or something.

The 2 motives behind this one:
1. wanted to make a Range Murata wall
2. wanted to try this tutorial for glass orbs >> Lunacore
Other than that, I wanted that futuristic yet vintage, above-the-clouds feel of Last Exile.

The original scan was, I think purposefully, very grainy, so some cleaning and editing via filters, blend modes, and some smudging. Decided the image didn't look right completely clean, so left some grain in. The stars were brushed in, and the clouds taken from various stock photos and compiled. The bar I added to give the scene more weight and context. Overlaid some textures to balance the scan, and give the sky a bit more noise.

The text...I needed some text and randomly seized on the idea of fortune tellers' crystal balls. So the subscripts are just babble along that vein; &, yes, that says Ren Min Ri Bao...if you know what that is ^_^' I felt like it. XP

Comments and suggestions welcome.

    range murata FTW :D

i like it. =o alot. =o =o i'm not such a fan of the text, but i like the rest of it lots :D the extration of the image on the left doesn't seem to blend as well as it could with the rest of the wall, but there's a ton of other awesome things going on in this wall that it's okay :D fav'ed!

The sky seems a bit heavy but I like the clouds and the orbs. The text is really cool IMO.
Keep up the good work ;)

lol. Actually, the clouds are awesome and I'm just not saying that. You make realistic clouds that really stand out. ;) They have depth, which is a good thing. As for the characters, they an ancient feel. Mostly because of the female character's hair piece (If that's what it is), and their shading. It looks as if you were sketching the characters as they were posing.
You did a good job of cleaning the scan up. :) As for the rest of the sky, I think it needed a little bit more depth to it. I love the whole concept of the deep space feel to it. Overall, I really like it. :)

haha sorry to say that i like kai81220's version better >_<
To me..the scan doesn't quite match with the bg.
The bg alone looks great..but it'll look even better with another scan.
Ren Min Ri Bao , as in the newspaper '_'a haha
but i must say the glass orbs/bubbles are lookin' awesome! /checkin' out the tutorial now/ *_*

really life-like, its cool. though, whats with the random bubbles? "_"

well then, I do not want to repeat what I have already said before in AP, so of course, I must fav it, this is a great wallpaper. Funny how underappreciated it is, perhaps because of the generic clouds and stars being consumed by the popularities of trendwhoring? Anyway, a fav.

This is quite some wall you've made... seeing those spheres I understand why did you want to try them out... they look great XD

Really good job on the starfield... the only thing are the shinny (cross-type ones), since the starfield looks rather realistic I feel they do not belong around... but that's a pretty minor thing.

    The texture is awesome and...

What do you see or what do you want to see? . . . cool!
And the wall is veeery cool too . . . i like the clouds and the spheres is just awesomes! . . . the stars are very nice, like real . . . awesome wall, i like it very much!
Thanks a lot for the share! XD XD XD

^_^' I have to agree with Ayaki about the bg... the scan doesn't feel like it blends with the background. If you were going for more of a cut out look then I guess it should be more obvious >3 The glass spheres are a bit random but they definitely look awesome XD *checks out tutorial*... Thanks much for linking it, x3 It's funny, I was thinking of making a wall with glass spheres myself just recently :D

the clouds seems a bit heavy to me :) but it's a really a piece well done XD
it's better if u see it individually..coz yeah..i have to agree with the majority..that the scan doesn't blend well with the bg :)

but who cares?! XP XP i love it hehe.. it gives out a stonic ancient feel :)
good job ne blusake-san! XD XD

Mmm... well, for one thing, I can say I like the clouds and the stuff you did with the text. =D
As ayaki said, the scan doesn't quite blend with the bg for some reason, and I just get this weird feeling that the glass orbs looks kinda weird in the wall. It just seems out of place a bit for me. But you did a good job on them. ^^
Not the best wall I've seen from you, but I'm sure your next one will be stunning. =D
Still, good job on the wall - at least you've accomplished your aim!
