Nice choice of background image to match the tone and coloring of the scan...the scan looks rather blurry
though...especially compared to the photoquality of the background
Also...be careful using photos...the contrast on the background is pretty sharp

I agree with cyd84, maybe you can look for a better scan and try it again, besides you may need to apply some sort of filter to the bg to make it blend with Lain.
Altogether, it's a great start, with some more work at it, it'll make a great wallpaper. -
