Wow! I really like this one! I saw other works for this contest and I think your is one of the better one's. What
about description I must read it carefully, but I see it is very interesting story. ^^ Great job!

My work for the Shinigami Contest. Warning, long descriptions ahead ^_^ But nevertheless, enjoy! :)
Name: Yasurakasa Namiko

Namiko was born in the West Rukongai, District 42. After many failed attempts of finding her father or at least some
relatives, she was adopted by a family with five children. Living with them all changed Yasurakasa`s personality. Once a
spoilt brat, wanting to fight with everyone in sight, now she`s become a calm and righteous person. It was thanks to her
fake parents who would do anything for their children to let them have a good life without hunger and pain. Seeing their
efforts she finally understood that acting the way she was isn`t the right way to thank them for everything they were
doing. But the place where Namiko and her new family was living, wasn`t the place where all people were so kind and
caring. Many times their house was robbed, themselves beaten and left with nothing to survive. And so, after another of
numerous incidents Yasurakasa decided that she would protect her family when someone will try to rob them next time.
Training hard everyday and using the knowledge of what she learned about fighting earlier, after two months Namiko was
ready to face those who will try to come and steal her family`s belongings. But when that moment came, it turned out she
can`t stand a chance against twenty armed men. Laying half-conscious and seriously wounded on the ground, while
everything was being taken away by the bandits, Namiko suddenly heard a female voice in her head: Stand up! These are
not yet the limits of your strength! Can`t you sense this dragon sleeping within your soul? Awake me! Let my power speak
through your body! I`m Ryuhime. Call my name and fight! Then, in a second she stood up, her eyes were burning with
flames, she has ceased to feel any pain. Lend me your powers, Ryuhime! Namiko shouted and a powerful wave of heat and
reiatsu pinned the burglars down to the floor. After that she attacked them with bare fists, leaving barely alive only
few. When it was all over Namiko fainted and while falling to the ground she once again heard the voice: You can rest
now. But you still need to learn how to fully control me, Namiko. When Yasurakasa came to her senses, she saw the whole
family at the feet of her bed. Thanks to the revealed powers all wounds were healed, there wasn`t a single cut anywhere.
Everyone was shocked and proud at the same time of what she did. Since then no one have ever found enough courage to try
and raid their house because the whole district knew what happened there. And from that day on Namiko spent hours
meditating and creating bonds with Ryuhime. Bonds grew stronger and so did the girl herself. Exhausting exercises
concerning both the spirit and the body in the nearby forest led to understanding of her true abilities. And so after
several months, completely unexpectedly came the shinigami delegates. They`ve told Namiko that the burst of her spirit
force was detected even behind the walls of Seireitei and then let her choose between staying in Rukongai and most
probably wasting her powers or coming with them to study at the Academy, learn everything about controlling these powers
and finally become a shinigami. Then she would be able to protect other innocent people from evil, purify the souls that
have turned into Hollows and send them to Soul Society. It was a difficult decision for Namiko but in the end she agreed
under one condition - even after becoming a shinigami she will be let out of Seireitei once a month to see her family.
Not wanting to lose such powerful soul, the delegates agreed on that term. On that day Yasurakasa became an adept of
Shinigami Academy. Being a quick learner she`s mastered the sword and Demon Arts and faster than other students became a
shinigami. Also with the professional help she has gained more knowledge about Ryuhime (Namiko was now able to
materialize the image of her as a large dragon). Finding a typical katana an improper house for Ryuhime, Yasurakasa
ordered the blacksmith to curve the blade in the opposite direction to make the sword look special and different from
other mainstream weapons. When her katana was ready Namiko filled it with Ryuhime`s power. Finally the nameless sword
gained a name, a soul and became a zanpakuto. She then amazed the whole Soul Society with reaching the Shikai in less
than three months and the Bankai in exactly two years. It was all thanks to the perfect contact she had with Ryuhime now
housed inside the zanpakuto. After that she was offered to become the Vice-Captain of 13th Division and take place of
the deceased Shiba Kaien. She agreed, glad that she didn`t have to be a Captain (even though all Captain seats were
occupied). It was all due to her personality. Now being a not-looking-for-first-opportunity-to-fight and peaceful but
also lately a party liking girl, Namiko realised she wouldn`t make a good example for her subordinates. Also, she knew
that there already was a Captain with an attitude similar to hers in Soul Society and it was obvious that in this case
two would be a crowd. But there wasn`t any Vice-Captain with a personality like that so she thought she would be a fine
addition to the group of people of this rank.
Zanpakuto
Name:Ryuhime (Dragon Princess)
Normal form
Ryuhime has the length and weight of a typical katana but the way it looks makes it different from other zanpakutos. The
guard in it`s shape slightly resembles the letter S, has two round holes and a dragon engraved on one side. The blade is
bent forwards forming a slight crescent shape while the hilt is bent backwards a bit.
Shikai
With the call Sebone magaru, Ryuhime! (Bend the
spine, Ryuhime!) Namiko releases the first form of her zanpakuto. After this call, the sword changes during the
quick and very bright flash of light which begins at the end of the hilt and ends at the blade`s tip. First change that
is seen is that the blade bends backwards from its normal form together with hilt and creates an almost full C. Also now
the back of the blade has three steel flames coming out of it. But Ryuhime undergoes a second, impossible to be seen,
transformation. To make the attacks twice as effective, dull edge of the blade sharpens itself. Opponent will be unwary
of danger and think that he`ll be attacked with the dull edge, until he`s being cut because the sharpening takes place
at the same time as the blade is changing shape.
The ability of Ryuhime`s Shikai is to extend it`s blade while still in the C shape, wind up behind the enemy and cut his
back and arms making him bend his back of pain. This is why Ryuhime is called to Bend the spine, not only she bends the
blade - her spine, but the opponent`s real spine also. If he is armed, the attack will most probably cause him to drop
the weapon as the wounds will be severe. Blade`s shape makes everyone think that the attack can only be executed from
the left or right side. That`s another mistake because the zanpakuto can cut and wind upwards and downwards. This was
mainly developed for fighting Hollows of every size which includes aiming for the head.
Bankai
Ryuhime`s bankai is activated after a short incantation:
Hinote ni kaibou,
Youyaku odori,
Kaki ni dakiyoseru.
Kyouki hitohashiri, Akai Ryuhime!
Which is translated as:
Rise from the fire,
Dance with joy,
Embracing the flames.
Spin madly, Red Dragon Princess!
With the recitation done (Namiko is of course able to activate the sword by only saying Bankai but she thought it`d be a more beautiful way of releasing), the whole zanpakuto changes completely. The guard disappears and allows blade to form a different guard from itself, which is a long piece of steel (long enough to cover the length of the hilt) coming out from the back side of the blade. It protects the hands while blocking an attack. The cord that originally wraps the hilt changes it`s place and now is wrapping the newly formed steel guard. What also changes is the shape of the blade, which end becomes broad, starts to resemble a head of a dragon and fires up the whole blade with an eternally burning flame. Ryuhime`s Bankai is a very brutal one because every newly cut wound begins to burn with fire. The main ability of the Final Release would be best described as an endless fiery whip. Namiko starts the attack with a move same as hitting someone with a whip. Then, suddenly blade disappears and transforms into pure fire able to reach everything and everyone within range of five or more miles. At first only one whip (fully controlled thanks to the hilt which remains in hand) is spinning towards the enemy with an incredible speed difficult to avoid even with a quickest Shunpo. But if somehow the opponent manages to escape, second and if Ryuhime decides it`s necessary third whip separates from the first one and begins to pursue the target as long as it will flank and reach it. Finally, when it hits the target many crescent blades connected with each other emerge and cut and burn alive the whole body. Interesting is that three whips aren`t the limit. To tell the truth their number is practically unlimited, so this allows Yasurakasa to confront even a huge number of enemies, be it Hollows or any human form of life.

oh dear... i really wish that MT3 did not just give each doujin a number... because when i was browsing through the doujin section the other day i did not view this one b/c i thought it was an Inuyasha! ^_^' i love the description of the zanpakuto + abilities... very detailed! i love the idea of curving around and cutting the enemy from behind. :D the design of her zanpakuto is also really cool! her pants look pretty cool... kinda 70's disco-ish! well, good luck in the contest Piotrek-san! :D

I really like the expression on her face in this drawing. It seems like she can get to doin some serious buisness when she has to. Great detail in the story and her weapon, I guess the only thing is I wish I could actually see these things animated since its kinda hard for me to follow exactly what is meant by just the words alone. But still great job. :D
