A remake of On Wings of Hope which I feel is
the best wallpaper I've made. Even so, there are lots of issues with it that keep glaring at me every time I look
at it. For example, the vector isn't properly cut out around Alphonse's cloth, his eyes are too dark, and the
Flamel cross is distorted. The color on the character was too blue (I overcompensated the hue/saturation settings.) The
featheres were too dark. The bird reflection should have matched the bird shape overhead. The characters are too large
and overdominate the wallpaper. The water was too flat. I basically addressed all those problems in this release. (I
think I scared Shadow_dude when I was ripping apart my own wallpaper in IRC last night. I am probably my own worst
critic, which is why harsh critiques don't generally faze me - I've done worst to myself.)
First, I added in a rocky texture for the two to be standing on; otherwise they're just floating in air. The rocks
came from Image*After which is a stock photo resource that
w00tazn showed me (thanks muchly!) because StockExchange is down. I redid the clouds from new stocks and redid the water
coloration. Reworked the birds, moved them around and have them properly reflected. Feathers have been brightened. More
ripples in the water, although I couldn't distort the water surface too much, because then it just looks abstract
instead of reflecting. The characters are smaller now, to give a better sense of isolation.
Since I pretty much started from scratch for this wallpaper, even reworking parts of the trace, I decided to give it a
new name, which I think more properly reflects the tone of the image: Grant Me Peace of Mind. White birds - doves - have
traditionally represented peace, and the two are reaching out to them - but will they ever be able to grasp peace, or
will its feathers continue to slip out of their fingers?

Really interesting wall. Like the way the white birds and feathers fit with the scan. The colour in the top left and bottom left corner seems a little too dark or maybe just blur when i look at it. Really good wall btw.

indeed, i agree that it was one of your best walls as well. heck its probably one of the best i have ever seen in general. though imo, i like the original better. for some reason i dont see the added textures doinn the vectors here justice. i liked it where it was all vector like in the original to add to that nice softness it had. and also, simple is usually better imo.

The text goes with the wall very well and the colors are easy on the eyes. Ed and Al's reflections are well done.
I didn't know what I was looking at at first from looking at the thumbnail; I just liked the pretty colors ^_^'
