Artist Comment
When I saw this scan I really liked the
background, with the cutout of the bamboo. So I decided to trace it and give it my own spin. I found out that this is an
image from "Dare Hitori", a game by Typeset which conveniently no longer has any information about this game
on their site.
For the background, I overlaid some patterns - leaves
for the trees, and flowers for the orange sky behind the trees.
Then I wanted to give it some more texture and opted for a rough painted/canvas feel, although different from my Kino no
Tabi canvas texture. (Actually, this texture was based off the one I did for Liberty, the Chrno Crusade wall.)
As for the title, well, I wanted a way to incorporate the treble clef sign. So I needed a "G". So... yeah,
maGic. I do like how the curl of the clef fits perfectly into the "o" of song. :)

I like the bamboo design, it creates a character abstraction in my mind. It makes it appear as if she is hidden. Great wall.

It's good how the whole thing blends because of the texturing... it would have been nice if you'd extended the bamboo out of the frame of the original scan ^^; It might make it feel more open and airy if the sky wasn't closed in by the green, no? -

The concept of this wallpaper is very nice, but I think it would be more effective if the scan wasn't as obscurred as it is now.

I really like what you have done with the image, the only critique I have about it is that the text is a bit 'floaty' and somewhat break the flow the whole image have. Other than that it's very nice.

love the texture overlay and great vector work, the yellow is just too bright and fadded for my taste though. But you dont see that color used for walls usually so I commend you on that. Great stuff tamachan.
