Hello
!
Okay, so I'm a little obsessed with the Ninja Warrior show on G4, it just
fricking rocks! My favorite All Stars are Makoto Nagano (of course), Toshihiro
Takeda, Bunpei Shiratori, and the new kid Shunsuke Nagasaki. What does that have
to do with this wall? Absolutely nothing
.
Anyway, I didn't have plans to do another Naruto wallpaper right away since I just did a Gaara wall. Then I saw this scan and for some reason it reminded me of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints) of Samurai, and I really wanted to make an Ukiyo-e style wallpaper out of the scan.
Ukiyo-e I used for the wall:
Print
that the scan reminded me of
Print
used for the house
Print
used for trees
I vectored everything that I used for the print (even the cherry trees
) and then went back with different brushes to add textures and such. In a lot
of prints, you can see the actual wood grain on parts of the print, so I just
googled wood grains and used an image I found for the wall.
In a lot of Ukiyo-e, some parts of the image have great detail, while other parts of the image have very little detail. Like a kimono will be intricately detailed, but then a lot of times the people in the prints don't cast a shadow, etc. So, I tried to mix up adding lots of detail and not as well. Also, things aren't always to scale so I tried to incorporate that as well.
Anyway, this took longer than I expected (over a month from start to finish),
but I also took long breaks of not doing anything due to being really busy and
sick. There were a ton of layers used (over 150
). Most helpful tool used besides the pentool was probably the gradient, smug
and blur tools.
Hope you guys like the wall
.

First I think the background is really stylish, your digital painting mirrors a lot of effort and their pose reminds me of samurai battles. The sakura are kinda out of placed, since they're the only pink/tiny/warming element, but let's just call it creativity.
Overall, a huge success.
WOW
I
mean the background looks awesome & the characters are vectored wonderfully

your wall is something else
very very creative wall
well done kit-kat
Looks good
IMO: The wall will look better if you added shadow to the floor and also i kinda prefer sakura trees in snow scene?(influence from many animes haha) =x
Ukiyo-e is a win in my books. (even when it's Naruto-failure *no sense convincing me otherwise
*)
and this is an extremely good interpretation. You really made the whole thing
work and it's like a woodblock but from StudioPierrot
Your
hard work has really paid off, congratulations
