This is an amateur drawing by me. Well, my friend encouraged me to scan this and post this here. she said "there's nothing wrong with posting it. You'll lose nothing" So i scanned it and decided to post it here even though i have no idea how many criticisms should i get (well, i hope not. please post your comment for my message. Please please please!)

the girl in the picture is a geisha (her red underlayer tells that she is a geisha. The apprentice or the maiko wears white underlayer or the robe worn before the colorful silk kimono). She's smiling because it's her first day of being a geisha. Unlike other geishas, she's not wearing her colorful kimono yet, her hair's not done yet and she has no make up yet because it's daytime and she's currently staying in her okiya (geisha house). A geisha's job starts at night where she entertains in various teahouses.

A maiko sleeps with her hair done but in this pic, her hair is down. The reason is, a geisha's hairstyle is different from a maiko's hairstyle. Geisha's hairstyle consist of hair sticks or ornamental comb and a red cloth styled like a peach (i guess) which signifies that she's a geisha while a maiko has white cloth in her hair.

(those things i said were based on the novel, Memoirs of a Geisha)

i'm sorry for making her outfit so simple. -_-

well, that's eough for the history. I HOPE you like it. Please feel free to post a comment. ^_^' ^_^' ^_^' ^_^'
