Thank you. To answer your question. I did both. I first sketched a doodle of her in around a 6 x 4 area (for me its easier to get the proportation accurate when drawing smaller) . Then i scanned that and enlarged it too about a 9 x 12. I then traced off of the scan and colored it in after I matched up her colors. I am more of a craftsman then an artist because I cannot retain an image in my head. I have to see a general shape and then once that is down I can tweak it to something else. Sorry for the long winded answer : )
