Magic Knight Rayearth: Magic Knights 1

CLAMP, Magic Knight Rayearth, Magic Knight Rayearth Illustrations Collection, Fuu Hououji, Hikaru Shidou

3536x4000

Scanned it from my Magic Knight Rayearth Artbook.
After a long time of thinking I decided to scan and upload the Magic Knight Rayearth images in a good quality because most of the artbook scans are not big enough.
You can see a scan of MKR I uploaded once. But know in a big and good quality:

To answer your question merriusa, they did. To be more prescise, CLAMP drew this image especially for the release of the MKR game for the Sega Game Gear Units. There was even a specialised limited edition MKR Game Gear handheld console which came with the game cartridge. The image itself was printed on the box which the game/unit was packed in and was also used in promotional posters for it.

In case you were unsure, the Game Gear was Sega's response to the early models of the Nintendo Game Boy - released in the mid 1990's. They were a very popular alternative to the Game Boy in Japan, but unfortunately they could never break Nintendo's stranglehold on the Game Boy in overseas markets. Hence it was withdrawn from international shelves by around early 1997. Apparently, there have been reports of units like these (both MKR limited edition ones as well as generic type Game Gear units) being sold on eBay - some selling for more than US$200. Real collectors items - for both Game Gear and MKR enthusiats alike!
