Artist Comment
I'm back with a submission... first in a while I guess. But I'm particularly happy today. I had one of the most nerve wrecking days of my life yesterday (in other words I had an interview for the JET programme), and now, I finally feel relaxed, after what seems like an eternity of stress ^_^'
So, I chose to submit this SDK pic... I know, it looks pretty much like all of my most recent submissions... I think I drew it almost a year ago, it's not exactly recent ^_^' I took this pic from... *too lazy to go check* volume 12 I think. Anyways, he's fighting against Shinrei (I also drew Shinrei on the same page, but I'm not going to submit it right away, unless too many peopke insists that I do ^_^')
So, enjoy! and please, please, please comment... I can see flaws, so I know it's not perfect, but I still want to know your impressions ^_^'

OMG she's actually posted another picture, the first of the year. This is classic Aya style, and more so seing as it's from SDK XD.
Being classic drawing similar comments which is the shading is your strong suit, however in this one, I'm not sure what the context of the scene is, but it's really bright. Have the feeling that there is a huge sun (light source coming from the right side of the picture).
The other noteworthy part is the sword, it's done well and could be even better if it were extended to it's tip so you can test out your full ability in perspectives for the sword.
The only main flaw I saw were his eyes. His left pupil (right pupil if you are looking at the picture) is sharper and more focused then the other eye and the surround face for that matter so feels a little out of place.
Also I'm not sure how you write your "5s" but this pic looks like it's 2004 so it's much older ^_^' Which brings last comment that I really hope you get the chance to draw again and we get to see what level you are at... yeah I know you haven't felt like drawing in a while, but while being happy and relaxed you should pick up your pencil again... I'm sure many would love to see your new work, that would include this quiet geezer
P.S. RATS, that's the problem with novels I wanted to be first to post, but by the time i finished writing I became the second to post -_-

Ohoh hopefully i browsed the doujin gallery, otherwise i'd have missed aya sis return ;).... so how was your JET interview ? i hope you'll get in !
anyway i like the light effect on this one, it is very shiny (i'd be even better if you had inked it to increase the contrast between black and white.... maybe). I think it's pretty good, except that maybe his eyes differ from each other (one has this blakc pupil which would be normal i guess, and the other hasn't), it gives a weird feeling to the character... but maybe it's the way it's drawn in the manga, i have no idea ^_^'
maybe the bone of his wrist is a bit prominent as wellGood to have you back XD

Great drawing! :D you drew really well in 2004 :) I really like his pose and his expression. Shading as always is really good as well as foldings ^^ The sword is really nice, very big too :P and his hand is nicely done ^^ The only thing would be his eyes, they look a bit off. Great job aya! :D

Nice drawing, and once again, great work on the shadowing. But still i'm glad you have better dark colouring pencils now ^_~ I agree with previous comments about his mismatched eyes, but considering how old the drawing is, maybe it just got a little smudged or something. Also, his sword looks a bit wavy to me, not as strikingly straight as I think it should be. Anyway, good job again and congrats on finishing that interview ^^

Thanks for sharing this lovely drawing with us Ayamael :) I think your pencil work both with regards to the shading and drawing are absolutely fantastic. His clothing looks really dramatic due to all the attention to detail you've given it... capturing all of the folds and using your pencil to give it such depth and contrast certainly draws one's attention to it :D I love the way he's posing in the picture too :) I'd have to agree with what one person mentioned about the bone in his wrist though, it really does stick out quite a lot and is not as smooth as I think it could be and his eyes, his pupils look slightly off because it looks as if his right eye is totally devoid of one whereas his left pupil stands out a mile ^_^' on the whole though, I think you've done a really great job on drawing him and I think it's very well proportioned :) this is a lovely addition to your collection and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future...

WOW, that looks really really good, you captured everything about him and his personality...most ppl for get that if you dont add there personality, it wont look like the character you want to draw, but u did it perfectly :D
