This was one of my possible entries to Minitokyo's W.A.R. round 2 contest, but I rejected it because it was too boring, too easy to do, and definately not unique or earth-shattering (the theme was a billboard, and as a billboard this doesn't do anything special to attract the eye.) Actually, I finished this wall a little while ago but held onto it until I could finish a second W.A.R. wall so that I could choose between the two.
I really love Victorian Romance Emma, and have wanted to make more walls for the series. I wanted to wall Hakim so I searched around until I found a scan of all 4 characters. After a trace in which I enhanced some of the colors (and changed the title on the books to reflect events in episode 4) I found a nice stock photo of a London park for a background (since the original was also in a tree-filled, park setting.) The photo I found already had many painterly qualities to it so I merely enhanced the effect and added some light rays (also based on the scan) and a little bit of text.

    Hehe, I give also here a comment on your work! :D
    Like I sad, I like Emma (19 century, history, romance, I would like to see more this kind of anime! :) ) Nice work with the wallpaper! :)

    It's a shame the funding got pulled. The Emma manga has enough story to last a few more seasons and it gets so engaging ;_;

    Wonderful work, big thanks~

    I started watching Emma because I saw you last wall of this series, and I'm really glad I did! Haha, Hakim is my favorite character so I'm glad you walled him! :D It might not be a "earth-shattering" type of wall, but it's really pretty, and fits in well with the mood of the series in my opinion. Nice work! ^_^

    It has more of a simpler sense and i dont know theres nothing that actually strikes me as you have said in your description but the text and compostion is well done... maybe if the chracters were almost the same as the bg itself maybe it could work or maybe some textures.... Anyway good job! :P

    I have just started reading the manga, and, being a hopeless romantic, I like it a lot. The art itself is also not bad, though not really my taste. What I like best is definitely the way the author tries to portray the feeling of the epoch, she's very accurate as far as the clothes, the architecture and the rules of the society are concerned.
    Though, as you say, it may not be an 'earth-shattering' wallpaper, it still is great.
