I've been really enjoying Victorian Romance Emma, because I'm a girl and fluffy shoujo romance with historial settings is always a way to keep me interested. Of course, once I start loving a series I start making wallpapers! I found this scan off of someone's livejournal; originally from Animage June/05, the scene was taken straight out of Episode 7, "Crystal Palace." I loved the romantic night setting, plus the fact it's in the Crystal Palace!
I redrew the background from scratch, partially tracing the original structure of the Crystal Palace, and adding in my own stuff. Instead of the shadowy palm trees in the background, I used some of Illustrator's tree symbols, sufficiently darkened and placed at appropriate intervals, to break up the monotonous Palace structure. Stars were made with a simple set of brushes. I added some soft translucency to the palace structure so it looked like there was glass between the wall and the sky. No moon; the light source is behind the viewer, so the moon would have been wholly inappropriate.
After I redrew the background I realized the characters were far too pale and washed out for the night scene, so I liberally darkened them to fit.
Text done in Photoshop using some of Photoshop's preinstalled fancy smancy shapes. "Crystal Hearts" was the title because they're in the Crystal Palace, and well, they're in love :D

Wow! Good vectors! The wordings is beautiful specially the symbol at the back. ^_^ The Bg you make is wonderful, using black as the primary colors of the trees and buildings is awsome which blends in the night sky. Cuz there is not much light. Overall: Fantastic! Tama you rocks! XD

Just seeing this reminds me of the song from Hack.sign called "Fake wings" by Yuji Kajiura and this one makes these together very well...Love it to death and the quality is superbb!
Great job as always Tama! :)

Excellent job on the wall Tama. Gotta love it especially when it's Emma! The setting looks great and I think you did a great job on tweaking the colours. They look more vibrant. *two thumbs up*

Very nice wallpaper. You made me curious about this anime, I was kinda tempted to watch it for a reason or an other I was too lazy to start doing it. But after seeing this work I might get my hands on it, lol.

I love how you redrew the backround, it looks really nicely done. I don't know about the title being so far up in the corner, but it works. Some nice work Tama :)

You are such a mind-reader. I watched the first ep of Emma last night, loved it, and now what do I find but a wonderful Emma wall? I love the deep coloring, it really brings the focus to the foreground, and the vectoring is superb as always. *gasp* It's night-time...but no moon! Such heresy! I like the uncluttered, stylistic background - it really provides a simply backdrop to Emma and whatshisface. XD

Oooooh, very pretty. The night beyond the Palace is exquisite. The associated lighting is brilliantly done. It might even be historically accurate, too. =D I further like the trees. I really need to watch more of this series. Wonderful work.

Is this based on the book - Emma? Because if it is, I'm definitely going to watch it~! I've read the book when I was young-er and I thought it was pretty nice! Yay! Now this anime is my next target and...
Aww, they look so adorable together~! :D The vector is really good and the bg's fab. Keep up!

I was so hoping I would find a wallpaper of this scene from the anime series. It is absolutely breath taking how how beautiful it is. I think you did the backdrop of the Crystal Palace more justice than the anime series did. Please do more.
