The composition is great and the background would have matched the character and mood.
However the character is too sharp for the blurry background. Blur/soften her out slightly, focusing more on blending her outlines. -

This work is simple? Geez, I wonder what kind of walls you can do that will not be commented as "simple." The way you did the background is awesome. Blurring the background and the effects you have added around the character enhance the feeling of foreboding.
