Well, I've actually been working on this one on and off... playing with textures, and obviously negative/positve images ^_^

...I actually made this for my buddy Dream-san, since he is such an Amano fan, as am I...

I love this original scan... done by Markjo
http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/61020/

many layers, BG is many different textures I was playing with in order to get that kinda dream-sand look... hope its effective..

yes, i know that the two rectangles so dominant will bother some- but I found them to be essential to the image.. dont ask... they seem to add a sense of uneasyness to me... kind of what I was going for... ^_^' ...

hope you like ^_^

Definitely an interesting and creepy wallpaper Bel-san! Negative images always give off an eerie atmosphere ~ when i did photography, developing and the seeing the negatives of my shoots always scared me, lol. And I actually like the rectangles, it adds to the creepiness, especially since you did them on the eyes. My only suggestion would be maybe to fade/blend the endpoints of the rectangle into the rest of the picture. Anyway, great wallpaper ^^ *runs away from the scary eyes*

i definitely love the mood of this one, and the colors ^^ oh, and i also love the two rectangles... well, i don't exactly have the word to describe it... sorry, but i really think it's amazing, great wall, keep it up!!

  9. lis-sing Feb 09, 2005

The contrasting colors definitely adds tone to the pic. Good Job!!!

  10. Skillzpay Feb 09, 2005

I really like the concept, the contrasting colors work and the bars, along with the dark colors, really set the mood. I think it might've even been cooler if the bars were swords or something but the bars certainly do the trick though.

  13. Mordin Feb 09, 2005

This wallie kind of creep me out lol but I do like the texture of it, and the fact you focus on making her face haunting was wonderful devilish. :) Hope I don't meet any girls like that in real life. :D

  14. calisqo Feb 09, 2005

Wow bel... you're becoming much more of an artist now ^^.
u start to think about composition and elements in your work , it's a greats sign ^^

The reverse image effect is pretty nice on the scan, kinda show contrast, the rectangualr elements in the scan is also nice, and perhaps u're right by putting it there.
But isn't there any other shapes besides rectangle ?

good work, and the texture is as good as the scan ^_^
    keep it up :)
*sorry for the long comment XP *

  18. DREAM Feb 09, 2005

wow bel-san, you really outdid yourself. not only did you create a wallpaper based on my absolute favorite Amano painting "Dragonfly" but you made a totally unique and creative wall. i really love the concept as Skillzpay previously mentioned; never would i have considered such an approach. actually i really think the rectangular shapes around her eyes and mouth are not only appropriate but bring attention to her vital body parts. eyes are very important to me in art and i really love her eyes, they are sexy yet very mysterious. now the background is truly unique and helps to contrast the rectangular shapes. having her "double" to the far left is really a great decision since it and the use of light and dark helps to set the mood. bel-san you really have developed as an artist. :) i can't wait for your next wallpaper. XD

thank you so very much for sharing this. :nya:

    absolute favorite. :)

[note] what up with everyone saying she looks scary or frightening?

  19. charaznableamurorei Feb 09, 2005

You got the 'dream-sand look' alright, by inverting/reversing the image colors/contrast! Kudos for that! But I really feel that the rectangle thingies that are supposed to highlight the eyes/mouth of the chara are too forced, in my opinion. "Dream State", right? So, in a dream state, pretty much the definitions or highlights should be kinda hazy, blurred and not defined/forced? Hmm, what about softening (? haha, Im not technical, you know that, Belmikry-friend ^^) the edges of the rectangle a bit? Hehe, too late for that.

But I definitely love what you're aiming for here, friend. The 'dreamer' of this 'dream' would surely be mesmerized by the 'dream's' piercing glare and lips... ahaha, hurried caption I made, sorry. Keep at it!
