I've been working on this image for a while. The image is off of the Japanese DVD2 cover, which features an adorable image of young Kino. (I want the rerelease of Japanese DVD 2 too, it has a new picture of young Kino that's absolutely cute.) After a quick vector it took a while to create the background. I wanted to recreate the scene from episode 4, with Kino admist the red flowers, and so I traced flowers and petals off of various screencaps to get that effect. The sky's clouds are recycled from my Kino "True Blue Skies" image and the birds are recycled from my FMA "On Wings of Hope" image. The birds are there to symbolize Kino's philosophy: If a person watches a bird flying in the sky... surely they will get the urge to travel.
The title comes from the prologue/epilogue to novel 3, a story which also serves to bracket anime episode 4. The story is called "Within a Sea of Red: Blooming Prairie".

Yes, Tama-Neko's new wallie! XD Wow, you must loke the color red a whole lot, ne? ^_^' Anyhoo, it looks so amazing the way you detailed every single petal to perfection! Very, very talented indeed! Plus, the kawaii scan fits really well with the redness of the BG! Once again, you did a fantastic wallie that deserves to be an MT classic! :) + 2 favs

I don't think there's a lot of red. The red matches with the girls dress, even thought it's pink. The contrast between them is excellent. You did a great job on the red petals, or flowers as you call them. Also, I like the wallpaper's simplicity. The background or effects are not heavy in any way to the image of the cute girl. A job well done Tama. A definitel addition to my favourites.

Awesome! Redness... cool color (my fav), and it's cool what you did with all of those red flower petals! The sky looks well-made, as does the text. Good job!

The flowers are great, and the way you set them up really looks like it fits the picture of the character.

This is, simply spoken, a perfect scene.
Colours and shapes, movement and placement are all the best possible.
If there is a possible improvement at all, than it lies in the details.

    Excellent work, Tama-Neko. :)
