Hum, you say you didn't put that much effort on it... But it doesn't show on the quality, it somehow makes the picture look even more natural, your lines are perfect for this kind of design. I like it :)

Haha...I hafta say...when I first saw the pic I couldn't help but laugh. The tree guy's expression is really funny. Is he inspired by Steph Law's work? Looks like something she would draw. Love it though....really good

Really intresting work ^^ I really like the style of the sketch and the wood looks really nice with all the detail and such. But couldn't it have been a tree girl instead of a guy XD ? Heh...never mind me...really nice work :D !!

Interesting, are those wings on his back or just branches from the root of the trunk? I like the look, good work.

waw i'm always surprised to see how good you are to draw fantasy character. ^_^ did i inspirate to redraw little monsters XP ? i'm in heaven to see your works. Even if you say there aren't a lot of shading here i think the nodes of woods in its arms are superb and look really natural. i don't know if i'm expressing well ... in other words, the wood textures on the arms is very natural. It seems real :)
it's fun because the way you made the lines in "movement" make think that he's wind property and earth property ... like a flying dryad ^_^
i really love it. Don't hesitate to upload more picture like this one. I love them. -

its been a while snice id seen a new male character
and it very different from ur others
it simple but interesting
it seems very poetic and ironic
as mother earth/nature is the life giver
while u have a man giving life to butterflies and plants.....
very good work keep it up

I think that it is a fairly common device/method to represent trees and other living creatures as having "humanoid" or "anthropoid" forms, so that the viewer of the art can relate more 'humanely' to the piece. What I mean is, your depicting of a tree as having hands/face/human expressions of compassion (what with it/he/she offering her flower to the butterflies like that) makes us think more of how we often take for granted things of nature... just because these things of nature don't talk, don't eat, don't move like us 'human' beings, most people feel a superiority to them... which leads to treating our ecology/environment as mere resources, not as part(ners) and parcel of existence. No wonder that in the past 100 years, the rape of the world's forests has almost taken on 'inhumane'/maniacal proportions. All in the name of progress, 'growth' in terms of the economic. Oh, but if these trees could only talk and cry out in pain!
My only criticism in your 'wood nymph/creature', toujin1-friend, is that she/he/it lacks vegetation or leaves. Was this intended? To show the dearth of life in our present ecology, that perhaps all that is left of "life" in this 'wood nymph/creature' is the flower in bloom? Losing life, but definitely not impotent, because this flower in bloom represents hope, hope that it may turn into fruit and from fruit, into seed that would yet reproduce more of the 'wood nymphs/creature's' kind... and these new beings, hopefully, would have more leaves and therefore more life?
Haha, I know that this comment is way overdue, but I do hope that it was relevant to your art, toujin1-friend. Thank you for your personal take on a very important issue - ecology and how people should view the environment/ecology!
