DO NOT UPLOAD TO ZEROCHAN OR ANYWHERE ELSE. Matsuri - the Japanese word "festival". Whether it's for Spring, Summer, or Fall, one of my favorite types of Japanese pop culture anime art are kimonos & yukata (the so-called "summer kimono"). Saiyuki is no exception and boy does PlatVis deliver!
As always, save the best for last, and coming as number four of the set but number 1 of all, it's Sanzo-sama in an opaque purple yukata, a nod to his eye and signature color, along with an obi with a strip in the middle. Pretty basic, maybe even boring to some, yes, but sometimes simple is best. Sanzo has his usual smoke but theirs an air of difference about it, perhaps because he's enjoying it at a festival. Even though we mostly see Sanzo in his priest robes 90% of the time, it's a lovely change to see him in something more Japanese traditional and relaxed (and I won't lie that I'm quite enjoying that San-chan wears his yukata slightly more open in a V-cut). Other than that, he's wearing the same classic style of geta as Hakkai does too.
One thing to notice is Sanzo is drinking the staple festival beer "Asobi", which I've previously mentioned before. I can vouch that the parody holds true as it is the most featured beer I've seen in the local Japanese festival where I live. What is interesting is that as parody rules require at least a "15% change" so it's not plagiarism, rather than being "Super Dry", Shangri-La's favorite beer is "kon'na dorai" or simply, "it's just dry".
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go fan myself due to the hotness of the husbando in this one. This completes the Matsuri set which I'd been looking forward to sharing for quite a while. Ahh....Sanzo-sama....
