P.S ( added an edited version with more fire light on the character. Thanks Shimazaki for the suggestion ^^)

This is my first contribution to MT ^^

For creating this wallpaper, I decided to make everything from scratch. Instead of using a print screen image of Matoi and vectoring it, I thought of sketching the character from a cosplay image. I used two cosplay references, one for the pose and the other for the shadow/light sources. For the face, I wanted to keep it anime style so I used a print screen image as a reference for the facial features.

Here are the references that I used

I also added some texture to the cloths, gloves, word and skin to add a bit of realistic feel to it.

After my rough sketch, I vectored the design in illustrator first and then refined it and added colour in Ps. The background was the hardest part for me. I wanted it make the character pop out so I was not sure what to use, but finally I settled on keeping it simple.

I am not sure how many hours I spent on it, but here is my work process:

It looks nice but what iam bothered with is the light reflection her, since the BG is more Orange so should also be the light reflection on her Clothes and her Hair since i can asume that the BG shall be Fire.
All in one it is a nice painting and creative since you used different Sources to create this one.

Do I see the popular blue-and-orange color contrast? I'm not very fond of it because it makes everything look a bit unnatural but I guess the colors still go well with one another since they're complementary colors, plus the contrast makes Ryuuko stand out very nicely.

I like how you combined the sources and I love your sketch. It looks pretty good; you placed the shadows to the right places. When it comes to the painted version, I get a feeling that some parts of her body are too bright even though they're in a shade, like her neck and collar bones for example. Other than that, I like your painting style.

The GB is quite abstract so maybe I'd delete the chains and just leave the fire with some more details and sparks floating around. Nice job overall! Keep it up!
