Hi, hello ^-^
Here is another old wallpaper. Well its mostly new than old, it had outlines and basic colors when I found it lying in
the mess of wallpapers in progress... So, I love Sesshoumaru and I always wanted to make a wallpaper with him. I got
inspiration to finish it since I'm rewatching Inuyasha with my friend who haven't watched it.
Why monochrome? Because I can (always wanted to say that). Lol no. I wanted to make it monochrome, but I would be lying
if I said that I don't like the original colors. ^^'
Anyway, in progression image you can see the screenshots I have used, I forgot which episode that was, but he was
stubbed and when I have seen the hear I was like, omg must finish this, I must, I just must!
I haven't used the full monochrome as you can see. I left the things on his cheek, the Moonie thing on his forehead, the eyes and the red detailes in the original color. Dunno why but I hope you will agree with me that it looks better that way. ^^ *hopping*
I used mostly 5 shapes for coloring, but the hair was hardest. When I made all the layers and finished the vector, I was like... NO. The colors were great but I didn't like it. The good parts were hair and the skin, nothing else. Since I don't vector from yesterday, I couldn't left it like that. So I entered the paint took that I don't know how to use still but I'm trying... *whispers*... S A I ... and then used watercolor tools and I loved the way it ended. Soon after I added some white hair, to make it look right like the hair wasn't already complicated enough. ^^'
For the armor or metal part of his "omg why?" clothing, the thing on his belly, and the fur I used textures
found on the google.
For metal I used metal textures, for belly - clothes textures and for the fur - fur textures.
Oh, yeah and I have changed his eyes, also shown in progression image. He had such big eyes full of "wtf how dare you touch kono Sesshoumaru?" So I changed it. And now he is not stubbed and his hair is long and from the angle we don't always see.
And it is about to start raining, the battlefield is set and the battle is just about to begin. So the clouds are gray and the sky is gray and I think it completes the atmosphere. I made clouds on only one layer so I couldn't put it in progression image since when I have done it, I merged all the other ones I duplicated...
Version 2 was supposed to be the original one, but when I made it monochrome I fell in love with it and that is how it
is. :)
I tried to make the other version as fitting as possible to the background and i like it. So, I had to put lots of color
lookups (3 actually) to make it feel natural.
I wanted to name wallpaper Schlachtfeld meaning battlefield, but both Kris and I agreed to change it in Eleganz meaning Elegance. I'm learning German and I like the sound of some words.

I'm missing something in this. I can imagine it wasn't easy to vector & paint this but it looks somehow too simple. Too monotonous?
The red parts do stand out but I think you should have drawn more attention to Sesshoumaru himself. He's the most important element. Not gonna lie - I'd prefer a fully colored version of this. Is monochrome a new trend lately?
And I can't help but disagree with those copy-pasted clouds. They're reeeaally pretty but way too obviously duplicated at least like four times right next to each other. :/
P.S. I'm confused about the lineart. You vectored it in SAI? I thought SAI is for painting only? Because it looks vectored but you have written "Outlines: Easy Paint tool Sai" in the description. -

I actually have a version that is non-monochrome, but i was in dilemma if i should upload it.
As for the clouds, i fixed that problem in the new, color version (when it appears ^_^'''').
Yes, it is possible to vector in SAI, as many people do. It is possible to make a vector layer. In SAI there is option to make "new vector layer" in which you get a completely different panel than usual where you have "curve" and "line" shapes. Its literally the easiest way to outline any vector. :D -

Love the textures you used. They are so subtle but give the little extra. I also like the scene, it is a bit different than what I usually see (sideviews are rare!). I prefer the coloured version above the monochrome with accent colours. The monochrome..isn't so well executed and it really does not work with pastel colours well and needs some degree of contrast from white to dark grey or pure black.
Monochrome is good to play with contrast and lighting. It becomes extra important because of the lack of colours. I usually check my wallpapers in black/white when I am close to finishing to check if I have enough "depth" with this, I mean it needs to have enough contrast to still look good/pretty and recognizable.
As for your wallpaper, I see a lot of lack in the contrast, Shade things darker and make other things lighter. This will complement any colour you put in there, making it stand put a lot more. For example, the sky has bright white clouds, you could use a stronger gradient or make it overal darker. Then there is the lighting that will add on to complementing things. I tend to soft brush (very soft) with black and maybe an occupacity of a few %, to the parts that don't need any focus and lighten the parts a little that need more. This creates a more dynamic effect along with the already existing contrast. I know Sesshomaru has silver hair, but it can be darker in the darker parts, same goes for his skin. I feel there isn't enough shading, which causes it to look a little flat.
Then there is the coloured parts. Try not to make them look flat. Make them blend in like it was part of him (see deto's walls for example).
Overal, nice attempt but needs some work. Going monochrome is an entirely different style than coloured and you need to be aware of that since entirely different things count. The coloured one is nice though xD
Btw...what's neptunia tag doing there? XD

you should make either the BG Darker or his skin since it is to bright that way, try adding some more darker shadows to him. The hair color and his skin color arent much difference so you need to make one of them much darker
Its vectored well but it lacks something but i dont know what.
Anyways it a good wallpaper
