so this is my entry for the new MT contest and i wished i would have had more time to add more into this piece but i am afraid that if i stop to work more on it i'll miss the dead line, i hope that if i do add stuff i won't be a problem if i update the entry along the way.

well the challenge was: "You could show people (or MT members) celebrating, or just what MT has meant to you over the years."

I decided to go for the second, MT is completing 10 years and i'll be 9 years old member this September, through all this time this site has been some sort of inspiration, when i first came here i wanted a place to show my drawings and with time i met people, i made a lot of friends, but unfortunately most of them are not beside me anymore as time went by, it's been almost nine years after all. A few times i had thought about quitting the site, but look where i am, never been able to cut ties even though i hardly had time to draw, lately i've mostly been at the sandbox trying to learn how to make wallpapers lol.

i had started of only doing monochrome and up till now it's still my favorite style. i only used to work with pencil, then i challenged myself with ink, when i first came here my shading was very simple, but the people i met here, all the feed back and support pushed me to develop my skills, pushed me to learn new things and so i challenged myself with coloring and recently with water coloring. So yeah i decided to draw it: MT has been my inspiration to draw better. So i chose to draw someone drawing (sort of haha)
the monochrome part of this piece has been sketched with with pencil and then outlined and shaded with ink pen, it had been years since i last used this technique so forgive me for the overly sketchy outcome lol the drawing hand had been made in two layers, since i don't have a pale color for normal coloring pencil i first water colored the hand with orange pale and chocolate colors and then used over it normal coloring pencil (ocre and dark brown) for the final shading.

I had seen the challenge announcement but i had not considered participating for the first time, my daily life has been quite busy for me to be able to stop and draw, but then one day i got here and saw that i had a guestbook comment:

Quote by fireflywishesI didn't see if you posted or not, but I hope you will consider joining the 10th anniversary indy art contest. I just don't think it would be a MT contest without an entry from you! <3

I had participated in every drawing contest MT had put forth and that comment was my inspiration and my reason to be here right now. Firefly~ thank you for being one of those that had been here with me for almost nine years.
I sincerely hope you'll like my entry.

Entry updated with a hand holding the paper please also view the alternative version!

I really do think the hand came out quite well! I kinda miss seeing the classic Dani-chan pieces here in the gallery, so this really takes me back.

Thanks again for entering, and best of luck!

this is different and new, I rather like how you went with something entirely different, the hand thing. even the only color used sort of thing was on the nails, the rest is sort of grainy, black and white sort of thing. I rather like things that have very few colors, sometimes it sure does bring out the details. very nice job, you did great work on the whole entire piece, you have improved greatly without a doubt !
