Yes. The effect looks like some effect of magic and that would match the story (roughly).

i like the bg, but i'm thinking maybe a different colour scheme would have worked better. Also, sakura just looks like she was just slapped on and she doesn't really fit well with the bg. plus that flare could have been placed somewhere better, like on the top of her staff.

I'm not sure what you did with the bg but it turned out pretty good!

hmm...the image doesn't blend wif the bg. it just looks like sakura was cut from somewhere else n slap-pasted on the bg. sure, the bg is nice. very pretty actually, i'll admit that. but the fact that the image clashes wif the bg spoils the whole wall. maybe a different color scheme or a different pattern should do the trick. nice try, though. ganbatte ne!

Superb! Yet I have to agree with some of the others' comments that it looks Sakura was slap-dabbed-pasted on the BG.....^^'
Piece of advice: Try to either use Sakura on a more brighter BG or darken/shadow her a little by using Photoshop or something.
