Imagine you live 100 years from now trying to do a history research... that's how your workstation would look like, while searching through the mainframe database.. or at least that's the look I was going for.. I hope you like it. i would love to see your comments on that one.

scan is here: http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/56353/ Enjoy!

EDIT: I took egnirys advice and i made the changes

You always put so much thought into everything, it fries my brain. The binary & coding are nice touches, and I like the film grain texture. That and the little flashes of color add texture. The color sort of breaks it up. I guess if you want the eye drawn there it's good, but it takes away from the focus of the wallpaper as a whole. Obviously those are points of focus, but I don't know if it's too much. Maybe more of a transparent effect would have been better for those layers, but it's an interesting idea. They almost seem too crisp compared to the rest of the wall. Maybe a little of the noise (but not the scratches) of the film grain effect would be a nice, subtle addition to make the contrast not as great.

pretty badass XD me likes it, one thing tho, i was thinking that maybe the techy text can be "techified" more lol i made my own word >.> anyhoo still fave

Wow ! I love it XD ! By looking at the thumbnail, it reminded me of Avalon, with the film grain texture and sepia colours. Then looking at the fullsize ( haha to bad the original scan was small so it's only 1024 ), and... yeah as usual great design, I definitely think you got what you were going for ^^.

Beautiful work. Looks like an old photograph. Very nicely done. :)

Wow! :0 *falls out of chair* This is amazing! It's always wonderful when there's so much inspiration in a wallpaper or piece of art that there's a story behind it. XD Keep it up! + Fav!

Hehe, very cool. Looking at this wallpaper brought a smile to my face, not sure why. I really like what you've done here. It's really unique, and different in many ways. The texture is cool, if a little overdone, but just slightly, IMO. I also like the coding and the binary pattern running across the entire image. Great job overall!

wow, lots of fine details... great work, I love the atomosphere too..
good job, a fav for me :)

  10. egnirys Nov 23, 2004

That's a vast improvement, you have no idea how much. The color draws the eye, but the difference is subtle, not so contrasting. The noise in that part of the image continues the "old movie" feel of the wallpaper. This makes it a perfect wall when I look at it, but it's not high enough resolution for my monitor. ^_^'

Yes it does has nice touch to it.
This more dramatic than the original isn't it?

I like the color a lot for this one good one :D
    *add 1 fav* from you

    Yet another antiquity-styled wall, DernierCri-friend!

    Hmmm, top left:
Post-impact street life: So some kind of cataclysm preceded this era...
LF (life count): 14, organic: 1? Then that means the definition of life in this era goes beyond organic; perhaps now in this era, AI and some other strange life form are considered alive?
Mutilation allocation: I do not like the sound of that, but might that be some kind of population control measure? goddess, I'm in a whirl here...

    Hmmm, highlights/foci of wall:
religion: So even in this faraway era, religion plays a dominant role. 'Still the ageless obsession with flying and the skies, though, due to the angel-like statue. So nothing changes with religion in this far-off time.

technology: now why is that focused on the seemingly-homeless person? Let my mind wander: since there is only 1 organic lifeform detected in the pik, could it be that this one person is "technology", since organic life forms might be a prized commodity or valued thing in this land?

culture: focus on the woman's hands, clasped together. Why is that? Might this mean that people (or lifeforms) in this time enjoy or carry out a very reserved lifestyle? That they keep to themselves too much? It seems that way, what with the lack of much people contact in this wall... and the orange-brown filter by which we see this scene might mean that computers are worn downin this time, the culture based of "high" or "hard" technology is past , and a culture based on something entirely alien is in place?

    Speculations...

Pray pardon my seemingly-irrelevant and non-technical comments on your wall, DernierCri-friend! And thank you for sharing us your view of a future, a future probably not worth encountering. Arigato!
