That was a tough one. Made in Vectors
Vash and ruins based on manga scanation. Vash from first volume. Ruins from so many that I don't remember. I started it few years ago and abandon the project and now finaly I decided to finish it.
Sky I made from gradient from darkish blue to the color of sand and then with smudge, push and soften tools I made the clouds.
At the end I aded efect of sandy wind. For those who will not like that wind I added version without it.

very interesting take on vash, I like the flow of the red coat, you did nicely with it, along with the desert like background you chose to plug him into it, like how you off centered him, even though it's simple in design it's got a lot of detail to it.

I like this so much that I can't pass it up without leaving a comment (I added it to my favorites first so I'd remember to comment later, when I had more time on my hands ;) ).

When I first saw it I thought it was a colored manga scan and I was about to comment with an "oh, nice coloring", because I love when people take on the challenge of coloring lineart. Then I read the description and found out you vectored everything and went "holy shit, she really did vector all those details!". Kudos to you for all that and especially for the details on the ruins. I'd have gone bonkers and called it quits after the first pillar.

While I normally prefer pointy tips on lines, I think the thick look fits more with the mood and I love the contrast between his dark-colored coat and the scenery (kinda reminds me of Spawn). And thank you for not making it overly crowded; maybe it would've looked good, but for desktops I prefer wallpapers that actually let me make out my icons :) Everything looks just like it should, in my opinion.

Tl;dr: this is totally my new desktop :D And you made me want to rewatch Trigun.
