1920x1080 Wallpaper

Artist Comment

1920 x 1080 recommended; I worked on this at 2133 x 1200 for the reconstruction part, so 1920 x 1200 actually cuts from it.

Another simpler wallpaper, just like my previous one, only this one has textures instead and isn't as shiny. I couldn't bring myself to continue my other vector wall projects, so I found the perfect excuse when I came across this gorgeous scan :P It's not a technically awesome wall, just something I whipped up in around an hour or so (spread out on two days). Most of it went into reconstructing the background: a lot of cloning, blending and color modifying and some manual reconstruction on the patterns on the arches (which drove me up the wall at times).

I painted a few shadows on the top part of the arches to avoid them all looking identical but, aside from that and reconstructing, there wasn't much done here. Added the bokeh for a softer look, didn't add text because I had no idea what to put and I wanted to focus on the background anyway. Overall, this is made for those with lots of icons and wide monitors, because I for one really enjoy something scenic and basic on my desktop most of the time c:

Painting and bokeh were done by messing around with the settings of default brushes in Photoshop CS5.
Title is random, based on what came on shuffle in Winamp when I saved this.

Wow this is interesting wall! I really do love Battler and this scan is one of his best looks! The concept of of extending the background is great! The color if soft and the blending looks really attractive, and the lighting fits the whole wall with hues of the background and its foreground! Nice touch with those bubbles as well! Overall great job with the extensions and lightings! +fav! ^^,

Not enough love on here, so copy pasta comment time!

Whoa. Umineko getting some love? Now that's what I'm talking about.

First things first. I really love the warmth the character gives off. The use of red and orange, or perhaps it's merely a texture/filter effect, really gives him this stand out warmth that is just right. Not just in terms of standing out from the background, but just in general. It reminds me of some of the old school effects used in walling, and I really dig that.

However, it's the background that's the real star. The original scan bg was perfect as is, being that awesome shade of green and what not, so adding to it with what you did really helped a lot. It gives this surreal effect, and that is by far what I love the most about this piece. The use of warm colors integrated is also a pleasant surprise and the sun dots, or that's what I'm calling them so we'll leave it at that, is also a very nice touch as well. I seriously cannot stress how wonderful it is to see someone work with a scan in this manner. There's so many great pieces out there that have already strong settings, and you took the ball and ran with it for this. It paid off completely too.

Something I would suggest is similar to what cherub said. The idea of integrating greenery isn't too bad of an idea. As with part of the headphone cord turning into vine, you could perhaps work in some sort of vine-type fixture upon the background itself. However, I'm not exactly sure how complex that would be, or if that would work either. It gives me this whole "Garden of Eden" type of feel, so perhaps some form of nature incorporated wouldn't hurt.

A seriously strong piece that looks fantastic. It's got this soothing, ethereal feel to it.
