It's a nice scene and you extracted the characters well but I don't think that halftone texture/tear on the left was really needed - it just kind of ruins the overall composition and takes away from the serenity of the scene. I think it would look a lot better without it. Keep it up!

It took me quite some time to do this, probably because the original scan (this one http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/563915) was already stunning **
Anyway, I changed the colours and made them warmer and also a little bit softer, since I don't like white on
wallpapers. I added some light yellow spots around the layng boy, and created a shadow for the one kneeling. I also
re-created part of the grass on the right, since the original image ended just after the two flowers on the right of the
boy's head °^° Then I made the tears and tried to clean the image a little u_ù
I wanted to add some butterflies too, but I didn't like the effect, so I deleted them xD
Hope you like this <3
As I've said in almost everything I've done, I can't find the maker of the tear brushes I used, so If you
know him/her please tell me so I can credit him/her!
Comments & critics are appreciated <3
PS: The alternative version has less tears ^w^
PPS: I HATE titles.

I agree with alenas about the halftone - it takes away from the atmosphere of the wallpaper, and makes it flow less. That being said, I do like how you've expanded the scan. It's really mystical, and makes a great desktop addition. Besides what was initially mentioned, one thing I believe could make this wallpaper even better is a slight refinement of the torn paper effect.
The brownish part of the paper effect seems too straight, less realistic - the paper effect at the bottom right flows more, and looks more natural. Maybe a little editing on that part, to make it more dynamic/realistic?
