Hi there. I've been gone like forever due to "some" reasons =.="
anyway, i've been doing this since March 2011 (LOL) and at last, I can actually FINISH it!
I vectored the scan but ended up with a too crowded background i guess. the hair took a total month to be finished =.=". and the kimono took a lot of efforts as well.
bah i actually lose my skills since i didnt touch photoshop for like 7 months O_o. Anyway, I'm still very satisfied with the result.

Scan Used

Layers: over 1500
PSD size: 538 Mb
Time: March 2011 to Jan 2012 :D. (Total working time: lose track)
Tools: Adobe Photoshop CS4, Wacom Bamboo Tablet.

edit:

well, i know the hair kinda looks different than the rest of the image. this is because I want to try out a new hair tutorial that i found :P . I actually paint the hair with pen tablet rather than vectoring like i normally did with pentool+mouse. the result is kinda messy but i need more practice :D.

the alternative version is the first background that i made but i dont really like it. I'm uploading it anyway in case someone is interested. yes i paint the feathers.

Lovely! I think it's cool that it isn't in watery blues, but the light and textures still give you that distinct feeling of being underwater. Love it! :)

The colors were what drew me to this wall at first - they're so vivid and beautifully combined and fit well with the colors of her kimono. The background is also pretty stylish and neat and I love the way you vectored everything. I must admit I'm not a big fan of the hair, though - it kind of looks messy compared to the crispness of other elements, I think it would've looked better vectored, as well.

Other than that, you did a great job on this! :3

Lovely work. The vector artwork is precise and clean with the framing and composition of the image has been well-judged.

I can't shake the feeling, however, that it looks more like an androgynous male rather than C.C.
It might just be me though.

Awesome work! The colors and effects are really good! Thanks for sharing!

If you had done the hair the same way you made her skin and clothes, I believe it would've turned out better. Also, I noticed yo used a real picture of water drops on the leg and the cloth under the leg. Not sure that was a good idea. But even like this, I believe it's really good. I love the colours, especially on the skin, and the blending is great. Smooth and detailed. Just the way I like it! ;)

Wow you've finished it! Absolutely love the vectoring~~ <3 great work, very detailed.

  8. MikuMasterX Jan 14, 2012

Wow! The detail is astounding. I love the way you shaded everything with multiple layers. Vectoring in this method is really hard and time consuming...but i think you pulled it off really good! Nice use of lighting also!

Good job with artistic hair, well painted with balance range between shadow and highlight. Also i love the ropes you created, i can fell the depth of colors. Why not you apply painted style on kimono too? Some of kimono pattern are too sharp, very rigid for me. It's OK since this paint+vector combination. Trying something different with fully painting. Sound interesting ? More fun, you can pull out tablet features with painting.
