THE MAKING OF...VIDEO: HERE
Please see it, I lost my mind to edit it ç_ç

ANYWAY, this is really a loooong work...like usual XD
I lost one week only to decide the concept and the subject, then I remembered that one of my friend ask me if I can do a Yoko Fanart wallpaper for him, and then on YouTube an Italian guy opened a drawing contest, where the subject is "shadows"..and so I started to drawing!
The first sketch was made on paper, then I finished it on pc and I colored it with my Gimp 2.6 :3
You can see all the process on the video ^^

I upload the SUNSET version, and the MORNING version ^^
I hope you like it, comments are welcome like usual! :D

Oh well, I had quite a lot of expectations for this wallpaper but the fullview let me down. Don't get me wrong, the coloring and lighting is amazing but I don't understand why some parts look so jagged >: especially the table at the front.

I really think you have an impressive potential but you may have to do something about the jaggedness.

  4. Mayuuki May 17, 2011

I'm with Fran. I just loved it from the tumbnail, but the jagged lines let me down. .___.
I think that smooth it can solve that problem, is a big shame that lines considering that it's really well done wall. I just loved the lighting and the colors, with that detailed bg. You have a big potential girl, believe me! ^^
Anyway, it is on my favs for sure. o/ ~

    Really nice! She looks cute.

  6. Kurorisa May 17, 2011

2 people above already mentioned about the jaggedness so I won't mention it again
try be careful and more detailed with your work
some of your shapes have those color leaks and it's quite messy
some of your shapes look not complete as well
try to be neat and tidy, not too mention be careful as well
other than that, your lighting looks good in here
keep up the good work :]

One thing that immediately caught my eye with this wallpaper the months ago when I first viewed it was how nice it was to have a subtle Yoko wallpaper. Something that didn't have her portrayed in such a sexy manner that she pretty much always is, and something that doesn't have to do with the Tenga Toppa world either. While I can understand the issues that both Fran and Mayuuki had, at the same time I fell in love with this piece and I'll go a bit into why.

Immediately, one's eye can be drawn in to the detail created. The speed video helps really give us a chance to see just how much work you went into creating and realizing that concept idea for shadows, and boy oh boy does it blow my mind. I'm really curious though about that Yoko fanart picture and who did that, because it's absolutely gorgeous. Or is this another one of your works created from scratch? Cause if so, I don't think my body is ready for that. Not at all. Either or, it's a beautiful job taking such a creative piece and molding such a beautiful environment around it.

So wow, for this background I really don't know what I can say about it. It really gives a warm, comfortable space so much by choosing the lighting that you did. I can't help but to feel tranquil when I look at this wallpaper, and that's one of the best feelings I can say one can have when viewing a piece. Personalizing it the way you did with little effects, like Yoko's glasses, cookies and other things really helped add to it as well. However, the real star of the show for me is the lighting on that city scape. I could have a wallpaper where there were no curtains and just that and I would type for hours about how I love that. However, the fact that you wrapped curtains in there, and only give us just a small taste of it is why I love this wallpaper so. It's simple in terms of content, yet very complex in execution and design. Absolutely brilliant if you ask me. Absolutely.

So what else can I say? I may not have a very keen eye for art to be able to spot such problems that others have, but what I can say is I can tell just how much work was put into this piece creates an end result that wows and gasps viewers, and to me that's the hallmark of a great wallpaper. Fantastic work yet again, Raffa!
