Tanabata originated from The Festival to Plead for Skills, where people write wishes on strips of paper and hang them on the bamboo branch. Tanabata also celebrates the meeting of Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair) (from Wiki). It's held on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the Japanese lunisolar calendar, which varies each year on the Gregorian Calendar but falls mostly in Summer (hence the Yukata and the mosquitoes repellent)
I don't mean to flame Lish-chan or anything...I just wish to correct any misled assumptions.
Arts wise...I love the bright prints of the Yukata...and how the space and perspectives are utilised flawlessly.

I myself knew it wasn't New Year's, since that Bamboo Tree is there with little papers with wishes and whatnot on them on there.
But everyone else is clueless, no need to explain. No one is going to read, since most of Minitokyo is filled with Trollers..
