This is my first ever attempt at making a wallpaper, so please be nice. I'm still not quite sure how I feel about it, but a friend of mine told me I should put it up here and let you all see it, so here it is. Image credit goes to Nuriko, and special thanks goes to Nat of ningen.tk, without whose PS tutorials I'd still be using photoshop for nothing more exciting than resizing walls that are too small for my screen res. The title is the English translation of the Japanese text on the wall. All comments appreciated, since I'm new at this.

Oh, really nice! I like her wearing kimono.
The background seems nice too, except that it's a little bit empty on the left. Good work though.
oh nice ! the work is really nice for a first try of making a wallpaper.
and
dont give up ^^
only the stars need a work up because the brush isnt a good one for that imo.. indeed the background looks little bit empty.. try another one plse
Haha,I say the wallpaper is very nice!!!!!!Your first work is amazing!!!^^Keep it up!
This is a nice start. The grass is very well done and the scan/extraction is decent.
The only thing that needs work IMO is the starry background and
perhaps a little more depth to the overall picture. For the starry sky, try
making an all black layer, using the filter to add noise at 10%, monochromatic
and then adjusting the contrast/brightness of it until it looks the way you
want. Then I would use the clone stamp tool on the "screen" setting,
to make variations in the sky/stars. I also find it helps to add some color to
the sky to add that bit of necessary depth. I make a duplicate layer of my sky
and guassian blur it by 3 or 4 and then do a color balance and add blue (or
whatever color you want) and make the layer "Linear Dodge". Play
around with it and see what works best for you.
Good job.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll play around with that a bit and see what looks good. Does anyone know where I might find a brush better suited for that sort of thing (i.e., a random scattering of dots)?
Also, in case you care, the reason why I left the other side more or less empty is because of the way that I personally use wallpapers. I use Winamp, and what I like to do is always leave WA up, using a skin that works artistically with the wallpaper that I'm using at the time. So, when I get walls I like to try and find ones that are focused more to one side so that Winamp doesn't cover up anything important on the wall itself.
beautiful
