And another months old WIP finished! Yay. I'm dead now, too.
Anyway, I have no idea if this is a he, a she or it but I really liked the scan. I tried to look for some references through the rest of 11th Cat category but I couldn't figure out the gender. .......I think it's a she. I'll treat her as a she. >__>
The scan is b&w so I had to come up with colors and shading by myself. I also gave her an arm because in the scan, it looked like she had just a torso with no arms and another wing because those ribbons kind of clashed with the idea I had in mind. I toyed with a lot of colors, palettes and gradients but somehow, I had warm colors in mind since 'she' looks so fierce so I went with red/orange/yellow combo.
I had fun painting skin and wings but the hair and vectoring all those strands, OH GAWD THE HAIR. Actually, wait, not even hair was so hard; THE ROSES, OH GAWD THE ROSES. I nearly pulled all of my hair out trying to work the colors and shading right. I'm still not happy with them but I was fed up with them and I just wanted to finish it already so yeah....
The background I imagined simple with a few vector shapes and a subtle text in the background. In the end, I just added a clouds filter (still comes in handy, lol), played with some blending modes and curves and that was it.
The lyrics in the background (if you can discern them at all) are from Ladytron's 'Destroy Everything You Touch' (which I wanted to add as an additional title but figured it would be too long....I need to stop coming up with dual titles). Anyway, I kinda thought they fit the 'she' so I scattered them across the background. 'Angelus Crudelis' is Latin for 'Cruel Angel'.
Thanks go to Nysha, Kitten, Tens and metalmallow for their encouragement/support/suggestions/insanity (Tens XD). I would've deleted this too many times already if it wasn't for them. <3

Really beautiful colors, and I love all the details you put into the hair.
Rather than actually just leaving the dark portion black you put more shades
so it's just an endless amount of detail from the top to bottom.

Aaaahhhh! You finished it! ;___; I'm so proud of you! It looks so nice! You did well on the details and golden highlights. The swirly stuff in the bg is also pretty neat too. Simple is good. :3 I probably would have liked to see more petals - like more on the left side and some bigger ones in the foreground to show greater depth.

This is amazingly beautiful. The skill used in the vectoring and painting is impressive, your walls are always fantastic! I love the warm colored sky to compliment the colors you used for the angel, I really love the hair, I'm sure it was a major pain in the ass (I hate vectoring hair). I can't think of any more superlatives to use to describe this, it's just too freakin' pretty! Great job!
