I definitely think the whole simplicity concept really works for this wallpaper. I have read and enjoyed Mars, however I don't get the title reference - but I don't think that really matters. Thank you for sharing your wallpaper.

I think I might possibly like this. Still thinking 'bout it. In any case, I'm pretty much in love with this scan. Not to mention the manga. It was one of the very first manga I ever read; it's a very good read - I recommend it, definitely. But this scan in particular kind of sums up Rei and Kira, the protagonists, relationship.
The feeling I was trying for was, in a way, peace. Both Rei and Kira have these tumultuous pasts and are ashamed of themselves as people. But he loves her and she loves him, and it's enough. It only matters what they think of each other. I hate to admit that this was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Innocent", because it was very perfect for what I needed, inspiration wise.
I went through an earlier prototype of this wallpaper, but it just wasn't working. The color seemed nice at first, but nothing worked out. So I dashed the colors and added a texture, some simple text and a flower brush. I didn't think it was supposed to be simple, but I think I may have been wrong. I think the simplicity works for the theme of this project. Well, I hope anyhow.

i love how simplistic the wallpaper is. it really brings out the characters. mars was one of the first shoujo manga i've read, and it remains a favorite.
