I'm slowly but surely getting rid of my WIPs. This was another one I had in my folder for ages so I finally got to work on it and finish it today. I took a little break from painting so everything was done using simple vectoring and gradients. I wanted to make something simple for a while now, but as thing usually go with me, this ended up being far from simple. It wasn't the vector that nearly killed me but the background; I've never written such a wall of text on a wallpaper before. X_x

I wanted something subtle but also something that had to do with the character and the series in general (DOGS) so I got in touch with my inner emo and ended up writing a fanfic of sorts. Yeah...props to you who'll actually try to read it because it's weird, PG-13-ish and mostly doesn't make any sense. XD

Aaand that's it! Hope you like it and any feedback is of course, welcome!

Happy holidays, folks!

Edit

Changed some of the lines in the background and made them more visible; they looked too gritty on too low a fill and opacity. Like Nysha said, they looked too uniformed but when I realized that last night, I was so fed up with it and PS kept crashing so I left it for this morning, lol. Hope it looks better now. :3

Oh wow. This wall is stunning yet simple - yet not.

The grey-blue tints set a cool feel that complements the melancholy expression on Naoto's face so well, the gradients and shading are so smooth. And the text!
The alignment is simple yet the content is not - I can't read everything but it feels like a portrayal first of Naoto and the bleak dullness she feels in her life, her regrets of losing innocent dreams; and then also of the world of the DOGS-verse, with its smogy artificial skies, an underground catacomb of cutthroat crimminals lurking in the streets, levels and it suffocates, suffocates - and she wants a release - and then comes the meeting with Haine, a being too 'made by hell and demons' and she wants to DARE and have closure.. That story and how she seems to be drawing the drapes away? towards? her, -/uncovering herself from view.. just makes it so.. precious.

I want to read this fanfic in its entirety, please. :3 And if I'm misinterpreting this, well, the feelings remain. :)
And now I want to write fic but that won't be fair because it's your wall that inspired me. uwah.

I should probably get around to checking out Dogs someday. You know what? Screw it. Let's do it today! CRAZY TIME! Ok, seriously back on track here, I'm working on catching up on my commenting and this is another beautiful wallpaper that I've wanted to comment on numerous times, so I'm making good with this now.

One thing I've always enjoyed is Miwa Shirow's artwork. So, that makes alenas + Miwa Shirow = gold epicness? I certainly think so! Especially with all the little touch ups you did to the original work. From the fur part of her dress, to the flowers, to those knock out eyes. You really boosted this scan past ten. This really makes Naoto the centerpiece and for darn good reason as well. Yet another stunning example of how much your work has progressed!

As for the background itself, oh wow. The biggest problem I've always had with text backgrounds is that, personally speaking, subtly needs to be applied to a degree so that the foreground image isn't drowned out by the text. While some desire that, personally with anime wallpapers I'd prefer having more of a focal point on the foreground. This is one big reason why I love this wallpaper so much. The text is identifiable and it looks beautiful as well, but it doesn't overshadow Naoto. The fact that you accented certain parts as well only enhances this too. Seriously, I can't begin to imagine how much time you put into the text part alone, but I can certainly say that whatever time you did invest, you made a profit on that. It came out wonderfully! As Nysha said, it's simple but effective and sometimes, that is really all you need.

So, what else can I say? I really dig this wallpaper. It's soothing on the eyes when you put it on a desktop and every beautiful feature stands out nicely as well. I'm starting to think a certain somebody is a robot here. What with you producing so many quality works, one can only begin to wonder.
