Happy Birthday Kitten! (again) <3

I don't really do these walls since I am a slowpoke and I need inspiration to even complete a wall. But... Kitten is special and decided to do one. Did this wall for you! :D

The reason I named it 'Dark Horizon' is because I imagined a place with complete darkness with no natural lighting from the sky. I just wanted to make a simple wall. Nothing super amazing. The vector was slowly done in 4-5 days (could of been 1 if I could actually just sit down). The wall has been in progress for about 3 weeks of mainly experimenting. OMFG THE BACKGROUND. That's where I spent 95%+ of my time on. Progress chart doesn't include all the variations I went through. You can see where I was about to give up ;_;. I never played with a wall so much before.

My initial vision was to just have the character fade into a black background. But I found that was too plain and I suck at typography so I couldn't use that to fill space. I went on a sketching spree for a few weeks and decided on the current background. It's suppose to be aged pillars but they look more like gnarled tree trunks since they're roughly painted and warped. Mist was added to the ground to give it a more mysterious feeling. It wasn't super detailed like the clouds in my progress because it would stick out too much. The background was blurred to help give it some distance, blend, and shift focus. Light source isn't in a defined place with a gradient/ray. I wanted to do it so bad because it would make the wall feel more complete. Unfortunately, I couldn't nail it and just scraped.

[Insert wall of text explaining all the lightings and techniques I went through and none of them work since my character was shaded based on having a pure black background void of any light, hope, and made of the nightmares of little children and I didn't feel like going through a whole mess of vector layers to change some of their colors.] *takes a breather*

The background suffers A LOT from gradient banding. I minimized it as much as I can. In PS it's fine but messes up turning into a JPEG. Nothing I can do about it.

Let me know if the wall is too bright/dark/saturated because my new monitor is bright as hell and the coloring is different. The whites are literally pure white. I know this is far from being completely refined. I want to work on it more but I am just so exhausted. Edits may come later if I feel like it.

R.I.P. my old monitor that gave out while working on the wall and delayed the wall's completion.
