I've always loved Yoshitoshi ABe's art.

brushes: masking textures from celestial star, paint splatter by quells
thank you to DREAM of MiniTokyo for the
scan.
used a combination of soft light and screen for layer effects, hue and saturation modifications, gaussian blur and noise.
