Finally, it's done! Both in 2560x1600 and in 2048 x 1152

Concept: "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" meets "The Creation of Adam"
Medium: Photoshop CS4
Tools: MacBook Pro and her trusty old trackpad (No mice or tablets were used)
Sources: All images were taken from animepaper.net archives
Time: Counting time in between patients and ORs... I really dunno.
Process: http://a.imageshack.us/img843/6045/processforreach.th.jpg Thishttp://a.imageshack.us/img833/8074/creationofadam.th.jpg -> to this http://a.imageshack.us/img715/111/reach2560x1600.th.jpg

This is my 9th wall. And currently, the most complicated I've ever done. This is based on the image Michelangelo's "The Creation Of Adam". The wall here is quite similar to the masterpiece of Michelangelo in terms of concept. Haruhi (girl reaching), has god-like powers but doesn't know it. Her wishes came true when her life became mixed up with the lives of an aloof alien (Yuki), a happy-go-lucky esper (Itsuki), and a clueless time traveler (Mikuru). The red cloth she's holding is my depiction of the Chinese folklore of the red string of fate, intertwining with the lives of people. She is then depicted here offering the string to an ordinary guy (Kyon), who reluctantly joins in.

The process pic says it all. In essence, the wall's almost completely made using Vector Mask Painting (thanks to Nysha for teaching me this). I tried adjusting the colors of the characters since I used 4 different scans with different tones in them. The grass came from a brush I got from the net, but I tried my best varying its tone and depth to make it look natural. The clouds were also from a brush I got from the net, after the early attempts were unsatisfactory. The rest, it's VMP all the way. I had to manipulate the hands of both Haruhi and Kyon so it'll look like they are reaching for each other!

Hope you like this new parody I submitted. I'm more that happy to get feedbacks, suggestions and comments for this wall. I'll be happier still with those faves... HEHEHE.

Hahaha this is creative as hell, the way you arrange everything is priceless.
My only complaint is the grass, it really throws off the overall quality of the wallpaper, same as the mountains in the back, they look a little stiff and way too neat to be in the background.
On the other hand, the clouds turned out pretty cool <3
    Keep it up!

love how Kyon is reluctant to take Haruhi's hand into her wild world xD
just wished that you had a better pc and got better tools to use in the process of enhance the quality of the bg elements xD
but hahahha just love the concept, so epic xD

This work is most reminiscent of Leonardo Da Vinci's "The Creation of Adam",
I admire its playfulness and frivolity as much as its inherently artistic expression. One should compare it to the original for the best effect.

Though vector could be better, cause there some edgy lines.

BUT I LOLed, that's really funny to recreat Michelangelo's picture in anime-styled. But I really like it! nice idea and really good work on it.

Keep it up! Make more cool walls!

    and congrats on HL!

    favin~ of course! <3

Lol, the idea is awesome and creative, and great execution as well. The vector is so clean and neat, and good job recreating Kyon and Haruhi's arms. Nice choice of scans, everyone's expressions fit them well, especially Kyon's unwilling bored face. The clouds in the background are nicely done, but I think the sash thing behind Kyon could be sharper and less smudged.
