Hey MT

Here is my piece from the clash. It was a cool round, it's nice to see so many old wallers walling again.
Thanks go to the judges and co-ordinaters. Without them no comp and no walls.

Here is my my write up for the comp if you want to read it.
“The Human Condition” is such an open theme with many ways to interpret.
After going through all the reference material and doing a bit of research, I found that the Human Condition cannot really be identified as anything particular. Instead I found the human condition is a result of freewill and choice. Humans are the only creatures on earth with the ability to choose. So to me our “condition” is merely a result of our choices. For my wall I wanted to bring out a theme of choice, so the character here has to basically choose a path. A simple choice really, The sign post has a dark arrow and a light arrow, this here is a choice between right and wrong, good and evil. A choice we all make whether we know or not. Basically we choose if we are going to be a good person or not.
That in a nutshell is how I interpreted the theme. I was really inspired by the poster for the film “The Human Condition” by Masaki Kobayashi for the style of the wall, I wanted to achieve a graphitti style, something you might actually see painted on a wall somewhere. I also wanted the wall to be a bit surreal, that’s where the colour palette came in. My first colour set was very bright and realistic. Blue skies, green grass, white clouds, etc… However it just didn’t feel right, so I tried a desert setting. This to me works well because it hopefully makes people ask, “Why is that guy in the middle of the desert with a sign post?” and not “Why is it so brown?”
I will add a alternate colour schemes at AP when I submit it, but this is the ‘original scheme’. Overall it was a fun theme, and I hope I was able to come up with some a little original and creative, if it’s a crowd pleaser all the better, either way I’m proud of the work.

here are the source scans

And i also did some alternatives to go with the submission. just for a bit of fun, maybe brown walls aren't your thing. The original is still my favorite and is the one I submitted for the competition.

I looked at the other versions and I really like the desert based wall the best. I feel, like you, that it illustrates the isolation that people feel when making those big decisions in life the best. I also like the color scheme this wall provides over the others (that ultra-blue in the grey version was like yeowza O_O ) The simplicity of the use of one color in various shades of brown make this otherwise potential dull wall a good eye-catching work. Very nice.
I also like your interpretation of the Human Condition theme with the use of the street sign and directional arrows in the desert. It very much brings out the point of how our choices lead us to where we head in life. (All though I would counter that more than just humans have the power to choose, but this is a wall critique.) ^_^' Thanks very much for posting at MT too. Kudos!

The lining on those clouds makes my heart burn wonderfully <3
It's a great concept, and probably my favourite out of what I've seen in from the first round.

Uwaaaaa! I love the original and 'Gray' best! I love the particular tint of blue you put in the Gray wall. They're all gorgeous! I'm really, really glad you didn't go with the typical colors for a sunny meadow--that's way too boring. Keep making walls, man!
