Well, I tried something a little different this time around. This piece is all smudged by myself.
I decided to stick with a total black background, because the render was rather dark to start out with. I thought it would look pretty cool like a silhouette type thing with smudged wings to fill the rest of the wallpaper. I started with Aegis and smudged some of her back; then, I added solid lines of different colors and smudged them outward, giving them some flare. I repeated this with different light and dark colors until I thought it looked complete. After all that though, I ended up not being satisfied with the colors.
Originally, the smudged part behind her (the tendrils that look like wings) was green and blue. However, after I did the blending of the actual render (making her more dark in some areas), the colors seemed way off - they were too bright. So, I was forced to duplicate the whole wall on another layer and apply color balances, gradients, and photofilters; then, I erased Aegis-chan to keep her original dark colors.
Then, however, I wasn't satisfied with how sharp Aegis-chan looked - it didn't balance with the soft smudging. First, I tried to sharpen the smudging, but they would start to pixelate in some areas to the point where it looked terrible. So, I decided to do a smudge overlay on Aegis-chan with base colors to give her a feel/look like she was painted like the tendril parts. The solid colors came from her original render base.

love the color composition, but the face is over smudged. also for the sort of "motion blur" look, you should have done different objects in layers to give it more movement and different angles. the bottom mist also detracts focus and disrupts the flowing movement that the colors created.
nonetheless, the slight lack of finesse is greatly outweighed by the awesome composition

this is not what I expect to see in a elite gallery, and you may excuse me I do not have anything against your art, but I do see a lot of problems in the execution, the smudge tool is already a hard time tool and you overused it on this one, its not visually working and well it was cleaned by someone else, dunno what person put this under elite, but the level its not there, and thats clear...
