wow , if i'm correct ..
this scene is after the slapped scene of heisuke ..if i'm not wrong the story kinda like this:
After Hijikata went north, Heisuke decided to go and defeat Sannan-san, who became the big bad guy cuz he invented a drug that can control rasetsu or even oni. So he is kinda like the king of the demons~ XD;;; Chizuru insist to go with Heisuke even though he refused to let her come. Heisuke started to say many depressing things after he realized Chizuru will not give up. Heisuke is actually depressed by the fact that he choosed to become rasetsu in the first place, because he can no longer live under the sunshine like normal people (Sanosuke also said this to Chizuru; that he felt bad for Heisuke). Heisuke had given himself up when he realized that he feels good when killing people and starting to desire blood. He said -
