My entry for Minitokyo Knockout Round 1 - Welcome to My World. Opponent was DREAM. I had fun battling :)

When I was given the Round 1 theme, the thing that came into mind was, "Ah, this is similar to my first semester's Creative Studies 1 assignment." And it was titled Myself on Canvas. Looking at the round's theme kinda gave me an idea what I wanna do.

After indulging myself with Jamie Hewlett style of drawing for some months now, I have been inspired to draw a character of myself which is Jamie Hewlett-inspired, and thus the character Ephie is born.

Basically my wallpaper is based on the concept 'Translating Reality into Fantasy", which I put everything about me in real life and tweaked it so it fits the fantasy world so everything in the wall has its hidden meaning albeit all the things looking all so random. XP It's up to you though, to interpret the objects which you think it could mean. ;-)

Everything was done from scratch. Though if you full-view you might notice there's some line thickness differences between the foreground and the brooms because the foreground was drawn digitally in SAI while the brooms were sketched with pencil on a piece of A4. I do realise how obvious the differences in line quality were but heck, I like the brooms. XD

Dude, the original art done for this round is insane! O_O From the thumb I seriously thought you used a scan - like a Gokinjo Monogatari one, or something like that. It looks like Ai Yazawa! One tiny bit of critique, I wish there was a bit more foreground 'cause part of the bench and the inflatable pool is blocked by my taskbar, which is a bit of a shame. But dang, apart from that this sure is one hot wall XD

Great inspiration here...definitely an eye-opener :). I'm glad you did it in this style actually, and not pure clean vector work...gives the wall more character this way.

yeah i thought it was scan-based as well. but luckily i have no toolbar below so i can view the wall in it's full glory.

really impressed by your creativity and i love to see original works. my only crit: i wish some of the lineart was just a tad smoother at sections and the bg was perhaps a darker color.

but yeah - very strong work indeed. a favourite of the contest. good luck in round 2. ^^

Really nice.. I like the fact that it involves hand drawings.. :)
There's a little something though; according to the bench's shadow, the light comes from right above the bench, but the other shadows (the broom's and the pool's shadow) suggest that the light comes from behind the bench (or you can say from behind the scene)..
but overall, this is an amazing piece of work. Great job! ^_^

I love the colours and the texture, and how you did the sky. I love the brooms too, the pencil sketch looks beautiful, in fact, I kinda wish the foreground has sketchy lines like that as well... it gives it a very storybook idea.

It's very original. I like it
