Heyy, nice. The black background definitely fits it better than the scenic one; I can't see anywhere you really went wrong with it - it's simple, abstract and just works. Though the area around nagi seems a bit messy - especially the white dots.

This is a motivational wallpaper I made for a friend.
Sucess (cuz we all want to be as rich as Miss Sanzenin Nagi :P)
It's partly inspired by aqiaqu's wallpaper
which I think is awesome.
vectored in illustrator from a scan (the note page for
the hayate no gotoku scanlation to be exact) ~4 hours
the rest is drawn in photoshop; I used lots of brushes and shapes, too ~2.5 hours
I was going to do a scenic BG, but it turned out iffy so I changed my mind.

A bit sparkly and messy, a more centered sort of color to match would make this a better piece. Yet as it is, nothing is particular wrong and it represents the character fluidly while attracting details to her finger.
