Well, it's certainly been a while since I've submitted any wallpapers (or anything else, for that matter). I was so excited to see that someone had uploaded high-resolution scans of the Rebuild of Evangelion tarot cards set to AnimePaper (thanks, eria9!). The reason I chose to use the scan of "The World" was because images of Rei in her angel form are so hard to come across, and the image itself was beautiful. Being a card, however, it was a bit cropped, so I decided to vector her to add on more of her wings for walling use.
I've uploaded the vector here. It is huge. Please credit me in your description if you wish to use it. ;)
Now for my own crediting. I used several brushes to make this wallpaper, and I think credit is due to those who made them. I used env1ro's Extremely Abstract brush set (for the colorful bursts behind and around Rei), Faaln's Smoke Brushes Set 1 (for adding details to the background on the left side) and Axeraider70's Genisis, life, and Quantum brush sets (for added details on the preexisting background behind Rei).
I really just played around with a space-esque concept until I was happy with what I'd done. I wanted Rei to be floating in the middle of empty space. Originally I had a starfield through the entire wallpaper, but I felt that it looked a little too busy, and keeping it simple was a better idea. Figuring out what kind of font to use was kind of a pain, because I'm not really accustomed to making space-themed wallpapers. The quote underneath the "Rei Ayanami" text is a line spoken by Yui Ikari in The End of Evangelion. I used it because of the link between the two characters, and because even though Rei is floating in nothingness, she looks very peaceful and happy.
The tag at the bottom is for my new website, PeachyPixels, but it isn't quite done yet. It's getting there, though. :D
To avoid the crappiness of automatic re-sizing, I'll upload more resolutions tonight.
