Artist Comment
Phoenix recently finished its run on TV. It's a lesser known series by Osamu Tezuka and follows several stories of
humanity, always overwatched by the ultimate arbiter, the Phoenix. Despite the horror and sadness humanity faces there
always appears to be some hope, perhaps from the Phoenix who promises eternity. This is based off the image in the
ending scene which just has Phoenix floating in a sea of stars. I traced it from several screenshots and decided to do
somthing different and have her in lights. A celestial divine bird deserves her own constellation, and a different type
of wallpaper. The rest was just fun with pixel-dust brushes and the planet I used in my Stellvia: Star Crossed Lovers
wallpaper (with various alterations and the like.)
The title "Atomic Bird . Cosmic Voices" comes from a song from Yoko Kanno's album, Song to Fly. It's
an inspirational piece as well, featuring a talented Bulgarian woman's chorus. The title seems to go well; Phoenix
is a bird of rebirth and joy, filling the world with her song and beauty and above all, the power of hope.
I need more Bulgarian choral work, dammit.

Now that's something a bit different from what we see, even if we have yet another starfield again - but that's just perfect for the theme you explained. My only grip is the typo you used for your title. It's a bit plain. I would have made it a bit smaller too but that's just me. :)
