I use some brushes tu make the background
next erase somethings that i don't like it
some overlays with gardiens
To make the sakura petals i use some brushes too
play a little with that
and then i use some filters so make the lighting effects
Some blurs, play a little more with brightness and contrast and this what i get.
I like so much this character, and his zanpakuto is one of my favorites.
I hope you like it ^^

I agree with previous comments, his eyes look... a bit 2d I'd say, not as "real" as the sakura petals :3 but that's the only thing; the rest is awesome, the idea, the atmosphere... I love the contrast between the dark background and the sakura petals ~
